DAVIS, Calif. — Three Cal State Fullerton pitchers combined for a six-hit shutout over host UC Davis, en route to its fourth Big West Conference series victory of the season, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at Phil Swimley Field.

The Aggies fell to 15-26 overall and 7-10 in Big West play with the loss, while the Titans improved to 24-20 on the season and 11-3 in conference action with the win.

Freshman Jared Sasaki (3-5) suffered the loss for the Aggies, charged with three runs on eight hits while striking out a pair over six innings of work, marking his second "quality" start of the season. Tommy Wilson (4-0) earned the win for Fullerton after allowing just five hits and limiting the Aggies to six baserunners over 6.1 innings on the mound, while Blake Workman recorded his third save of the season—and second of the series—after providing the Titans with 2.2 innings of scoreless, hitless relief.

Daniel Cope and Jairus Richards finished with three hits for the Titans, each contributing to the first two scoring innings for Fullerton.

Back-to-back groundouts followed a single from Hank LoForte to give the Titans a runner on third in the third inning, before bringing one run across on a single from Cope for a 1-0 lead.

Sasaki settled down, retiring the next six batters he faced with quick 1-2-3 innings in the fourth and fifth, until the Titans struck again in the sixth.

Leading off the inning with two consecutive hit-by-pitch at bats, a sacrifice bunt from Jake Pavletich put baserunners on second and third. But a double laced out to right center field by Richards brought two more runs across for the Titans to make it 3-0.

Freshman Brett Erwin took over for Sasaki in the seventh, recording two key strikeouts and stranding a runner on first.

The Aggies threatened in the home half of the seventh, loading the bases after forcing the Titans to look to their bullpen following a single from Joseph Myers, and again two batters later, after Logan Denholm singled to left center field and senior Brad Pluschkell was hit by a pitch, but UC Davis could not convert.

Denholm went on to finish 2-for-3 on the afternoon while Myers posted a 2-for-4 finish at the plate.

A pair of singles, a double, and an error would bring two more runs across for Fullerton in the eighth, shutting the door on the Aggies and lifting the Titans to their fourth conference win of the season, 5-0.

The series finale is set to begin tomorrow (May 6) at 1 p.m. at Phil Swimley Field.
