SPOKANE, Wash. -- Joey Harris' two-out RBI single in the fourth plated Sam Brown with the go-ahead run and three Gonzaga pitchers combined on a seven-hitter as the host Bulldogs won a pitcher's duel by the score of 2-1 over UC Davis on Saturday night at the Patterson Baseball Complex in Spokane, Wash.

The win by Gonzaga evened the three-game non-conference series between the Bulldogs (21-26) and the Aggies (20-26), who will decide the series winner on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Junior Tino Lipson finished 3-for-5 for UC Davis and put his team on the board first in the second inning, scoring Spencer Henderson, who led-off the inning with a single, with a groundout for a 1-0 advantage. The performance was Lipson's fourth, three-hit game of the season, while Henderson also finished with multiple hits, ending the day 2-for-4 at the plate for his fourth multi-hit game of the year.

However, the advantage was short-lived, as Gonzaga's Mitch Gunsolus tripled to lead-off the third and scored on Caleb Wood's double during the next at-bat to tie the game before Gonzaga took the lead for good on Harris' base knock.

That was enough for starter Andrew Sopko and relievers Ben Brown (1-1) and Davis Bigelow, who combined to strand 10 Aggie baserunners on the night -- seven of those in scoring position, including the bases loaded in the first. UC Davis threatened in nearly every inning, including getting the tying run to third in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings before Bigelow retired 11 of the final 13 batters in the game to nail down his second save.

A walk to Evan Heptig to lead-off the fifth got the Aggies' best rally started, moving to second on Lipson's second hit of the night. After a sacrifice moved both up 90 feet, Barker was walked to load the bases, but a strikeout by Sopko and a ground ball from Brown ended the threat as the tying run was erased at the plate.

Mark Cardinalli reached on an error to lead-off the sixth, moving to second on the throw, but was stranded at third following a strikeout and a pair of ground balls, while Lipson started the sixth off with a double in the gap to left, but was left 90 feet shy following a sacrifice and pair of strikeouts to end the inning.

Brown, in the right place at the right time for the Bulldogs, threw just two-thirds of an inning, striking out one, to earn the win. Bigelow pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three.

Junior right-hander Spencer Koopmans (4-2) was tagged with the loss for UC Davis, allowing the two runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings. Freshman Justin Mullins was stellar in relief to keep his side in the game, finishing the contest with 4 1/3 innings of hitless relief, walking a pair and striking out three.

Adam Young and Izaak Silva also had hits for the Aggies, while junior Kevin Barker reached base safely for the 24th consecutive game after a fifth-inning walk, but had his 13-game hitting streak snapped with an 0-for-3 night.

Senior right-hander Evan Wolf (3-4, 3.96 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound for the Aggies in Sunday's series finale against a starter to be announced for the Bulldogs.
