STOCKTON, Calif. - Junior RHP Harry Stanwyck tossed the Aggies' first shutout of the season and the UC Davis baseball team scored twice on an error in the top of the ninth to win, 2-0, at Pacific on Friday night in the opening game of a Big West Conference series at Klein Family Field.

The Aggies (17-30, 4-15 Big West) snapped a four-game losing streak after scoring two runs on eight hits with no errors. The Tigers (12-32, 4-15) posted no runs on seven hits with four errors.

Stanwyck (4-6) recorded the win and his first career shutout after giving up no runs on seven hits over nine innings with one walk and four strikeouts.

"Harry was outstanding, he put us on his shoulders and got us a win tonight," said head coach Matt Vaughn. "He was able to command three pitches tonight and that was the difference."

In addition to his first career shutout, it was also the Casto Valley, Calif., native's first complete game. His previous career-high was 7.2 innings on April 26 at UC Irvine. He threw 107 pitches on Friday night, with 78 going for strikes.

UC Davis outfielder Tanner Bily had a game-high three hits and scored a run while pinch hitter Tino Lipson scored the only other run in the game. Pacific first baseman Erik Lockwood paced the Tigers with two hits.

Stanwyck and Pacific starting pitcher John Haberman each threw eight scoreless innigns but the Tigers made a change in the ninth, bringing on reliever Patrick Weigel.

Lipson led off the top of the ninth with a single up the middle and moved to second on Bily's bloop single to center. Center fielder Kevin Barker stepped to the plate next and dropped a sacrifice bunt down the third base line. Weigel fielded the ball, but threw wide of third, allowing both Lipson and Bily to score on the error.

Stanwyck continued into the ninth and recorded a 1-2-3 inning, as he did in the sixth and seventh as well.

UC Davis will meet the Tigers at 2 p.m. tomorrow for the second game of the series. The finale is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
