DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis sent 13 batters to the plate as part of a seven-run fifth inning and the offense pounded out a season-high 21 hits Sunday afternoon, cruising to a 12-3 victory and a series win over visiting Hawai'i at Dobbins Stadium.

The Aggies clinched their third Big West Conference series win of the season after taking 2-of-3 from the Rainbow Warriors, improving to 23-28 overall and 7-14 in league play. UC Davis posted its fourth double-digit scoring game and its 21st game with 10-or-more hits.

Hawai'i fell to 20-30 overall, 4-17 in the Big West with the loss.

Tanner Bily finished 4-for-6 with a pair of runs scored, while Adam Young and Spencer Brann each finished with three apiece to pace the offensive onslaught in support of starter Evan Wolf (4-5), who allowed three runs on nine hits over eight innings, striking out four without a walk. Freshman Zach Stone pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Quintin Torres-Costa (3-3) -- the second of seven pitchers on the day -- suffered the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while walking two in three innings of relief of starter Jarrett Arakawa, who allowed a run on three hits in one inning.

A see-saw first three innings saw both teams have their turn at the lead as Steven Patterson's RBI single in the first put the Aggies ahead before Jordan Richartz answered with one of his own in the second to tie things up. A lead-off single by Spencer Brann in the home half of the second and a pair of ensuing wild pitches regained the lead for UC Davis, but the Rainbow Warriors came right back in the third, scoring twice on four-straight two-out singles to make it 3-2.

A single by Bily and walk to Patterson set the table for the Aggies in their half of the third as they rallied to take the lead for good. A single through the left side by Adam Young that was misplayed in the outfield scored Bily to tie the game and move Patterson to third. Nick Lynch then came up and lifted a fly ball into foul territory down the right field line, deep enough to score Patterson for the 4-3 advantage.

Following a relatively quiet fourth inning, the floodgates opened in the fifth with one out as the next eight batters reached via either a hit or walk, scoring seven times. Young (RBI single), Lynch (two-run double), Brian Ruhm (RBI single), Kevin Barker (RBI single), and Seth Batty (RBI single), all drove home runs in the frame as the Aggies added another on a throwing error for an insurmountable 11-3 lead.

Brann, who also scored three times, added his second home run of the season with one out in the sixth, driving a 2-0 pitch from Eric Gleese over the wall in right field to cap the scoring. The outcome could have been much, much, worse for the Rainbow Warriors as UC Davis left 12 men on base for the game -- eight of those in scoring position.

In all, six different Aggie hitters finished with multiple hits on the day.

After the two-run third for Hawai'i, Wolf settled down, retiring 12 of the next 13 hitters he faced (the only blemish an error in the fifth), holding the Rainbow Warriors hitless until Stephen Ventimilia laced a two-out single in the seventh.

Marc Flores finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI single in the third to lead Hawai'i, which banged out 10 hits of their own, but stranded seven runners on base -- four in scoring position. Trevor Podratz added two more hits for the Rainbow Warriors in the loss.

UC Davis closes out the 2014 regular season with a three-game series against UC Santa Barbara at Dobbins Stadium. The series opens on Thursday (May 22) at 2:30 p.m., and continues with games two and three on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and "Senior Day" Saturday at 1 p.m.
