DAVIS, Calif. -- Senior Adam Young finished 2-for-4 to lead a trio of Aggies with a pair of hits while junior Nick Lynch drove in two runs on the day, but visiting UC Santa Barbara turned back yet another rally by their hosts, sweeping the final regular season Big West Conference series from UC Davis with a 6-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium.

The Aggies finished their 2014 campaign with a 23-31 overall record and a 7-17 mark in the conference, posting the most wins in each category since 2012. The Gauchos finished the regular season 34-17-1, 12-12 in conference play, and awaits the decision of the NCAA selection committee as to their postseason fate.

Senior right-hander Evan Wolf (4-6) suffered the loss in his final Dobbins Stadium appearance, allowing four earned on 10 hits while striking out one in 5 1/3 innings of work. Four UC Davis relievers combined to hold UCSB to one run on one hit over the next 3 2/3 innings, keeping their side close to stage yet another comeback.

Shane Bieber (3-4) earned the win for UC Santa Barbara, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out two in six innings.

Trailing 5-1 following a three-run sixth by the Gauchos, Lynch inched the Aggies closer with an RBI single in the sixth, and the home team made it a two-run game with a run in the eighth on Lynch's second RBI hit of the day with only one out. After a ground ball back to the mound moved both Young and Lynch into scoring position, Kevin Barker was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

That brought Austin March to the plate, who worked the count full against reliever Greg Mahle, but the Gaucho left-hander powered strike three past March to end the threat.

UC Santa Barbara added its final run on an RBI double by Tyler Kuresa, but the Aggies would not go away quietly, as Seth Batty drew a lead-off walk, but was erased at second on a ground ball by Lipson, who eventually made it all the way at third. Closer Dillon Tate closed out the game with a ground ball and a flyout to center for his 12th save of the year.

Tanner Bily also added a pair of hits as six starters finished with hits. Joey Epperson finished 3-for-4 to lead all hitters for UC Santa Barbara.
