DAVIS, Calif. -- Mother Nature has forced a change in the schedule for the UC Davis baseball team's three-game series against UC Irvine this weekend as rain in the Davis area has postponed Friday's series opener.
The two teams will now play a series-opening doubleheader on Saturday (April 25) at 11:30 a.m., with game two to follow approximately 30 minutes after the end of game one, with the series finale still scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Aggies (17-20 overall, 3-9 in the Big West Conference) enter the weekend following one of the team's most dominating pitching performances of the season, holding Saint Mary's to just two hits in a 3-1 win over the Gaels in a mid-week clash on Tuesday at Dobbins Stadium. UC Davis has won nine of its last 12 at home and are 10-6 within the friendly confines this season.
UC Irvine entered the week with a 25-14 overall record and an 8-1 mark in league, standing a game-and-a-half back of first-place Cal Poly. The Anteaters have lost three of their last four, dropping a mid-week game at Loyola Marymount and two-of-three to San Diego State at home last week. In its last Big West series, UCI swept Cal State Northridge at Anteater Ballpark.
Live stats and streaming audio will be available for all three games. Links are available on the baseball schedule page at UCDavisAggies.com.
