UC Davis takes on UC Santa Barbara in a three-game Big West Conference series, beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. at Ceasar Uyesaka Stadium.
The Aggies are in the midst of an eight-game road swing and are 2-2 during the stretch.
UC Davis took a 5-2 win over San Francisco behind Evan Wolf's pitching gem... The sophomore righty tossed nearly seven innings of no-hit ball on Tuesday.
Dayne Quist was named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame's National Pitcher of the Year Watch List on Tuesday.
UC Santa Barbara returns home to host the Aggies after playing its last eight games on the road... The Gauchos swept Pacific last weekend.
Freshman LHP Andrew Vasquez was also named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame's National Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Matt Vaughn was named head coach of the UC Davis baseball team in August 2011 and begins his 20th overall season with Aggie baseball... He pitched for the Aggies from 1989-92, then stayed on as an assistant and associate head coach... Vaughn will also continue his duties as pitching coach.
Andrew Checketts became UC Santa Barbara's head coach on June 22, 2011, becoming the ninth head coach in program history... Checketts spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Oregon... He was also a member of the UC Riverside coaching staff for seven seasons.
SCOUTING UC SANTA BARBARA
The Gauchos swept Pacific last weekend to move to 7-5 in league play and have won four of their last five games... Most recently, UCSB dropped a 2-1 decision to Saint Mary's on Monday.
Brett Vertigan is the reigning Big West Player of the Week after going 9-for-16 with eight runs scored during the Gauchos' four games last week... He leads the Big West in batting average (.380), hits (65), runs (41), stolen bases (15), triples (6) and total bases (90).
Freshman left-handed pitcher Andrew Vasquez has been named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year Watch List... He owns a 1.79 ERA and is holding batters to a .190 batting average.
The Gaucho pitching staff is averaging 8.2 strikeouts per inning, ranking the team 18th nationally.

QUIST NAMED TO NATIONAL PITCHER OF THE YEAR LIST
Senior pitcher Dayne Quist's brilliant 2012 campaign has earned him a spot on the College Baseball Hall of Fame National Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Quist is one of 51 pitchers in the nation to be named to the exclusive list and joins three other Big West pitchers.
He struck out 11 in the Apr. 20 7-2 win over UC Riverside, marking his second double-digit strikeout performance of the season.
He is a two-time Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Quist is holding batters to a .172 batting average, owns a 1.94 ERA and has struck out 75 batters while walking just nine in 2012.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Friday's matchup between Dayne Quist and Gaucho freshman lefty Andrew Vasquez could be one of the best Big West pitching matchups of the year.
Both were recently named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame National Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Vasquez's 1.79 ERA is the best in the league, while Quist is second with his 1.94 ERA.
Quist leads Vasquez in strikeouts (75-73) and opposing batting average (.172-.190).
WOLF'S GEM SINKS DONS
Evan Wolf pitched a no-hitter through 6.2 innings and gave up just two runs on two hits to lead UC Davis to a 5-2 win over San Francisco on Tuesday.
The sophomore earned his first collegiate win on Tuesday and struck out three in the win.
BURKE BRINGS IT
Junior righty Ben Burke has been helping UC Davis get out of jams in the past few games.
On Apr. 21 at UC Riverside, he entered the game in the fourth inning and held the Highlanders to just one earned run on four hits... He struck out a career-high four batters.
Against Sacramento State on Apr. 17, Burke entered in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and no outs.. He gave up two runs, but forced all three outs to end the inning... He would go on to allow just one hit over two full innings of work.
He owns a 3.60 ERA and has made 13 appearances with two starts... He has struck out 17 batters.
With 65 HBPs through 36 games, UC Davis is just 14 HBPs away from a school record.
The school record stands at 78 from the 1994 season.
UC Davis opened the season with a streak of 21 straight games where someone had been hit at least once until the Mar. 30 contest at Hawai'i stopped the streak.
Brett Morgan and David Popkins have each been hit nine times... Eric Johnson has been hit in three of the last four games.
Dayne Quist is making his way up several UC Davis career lists.
The Apr. 20 outing at UC Riverside marked his 55th career appearance, tying him for eighth all time... The 42 starts he has made for the Aggies tie him for fourth all-time.
He is fourth all-time in innings pitched with 307.2 and is tied for sixth in career strikeouts with 241.
David Popkins hit his team-leading fifth home run of the year on Tuesday at San Francisco.
It was his second home run in as many games after he hit a solo shot at UC Riverside on Saturday, Apr. 21.
Three of his five homers this year have come during Big West play... He is tied for second in the conference.
Popkins' .500 slugging percentage ranks him fourth in the Big West.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
UC Davis is midway through an eight-game road trip as the Aggies continue at UC Santa Barbara... They are 2-2 during this stretch of road games.
UC Davis is just 5-13 on the road after dropping two of three to UC Riverside over the weekend.
