UC Davis returns home to Dobbins Stadium to host Cal Poly in a three-game Big West Conference series beginning Friday at 2:30 p.m.
The Aggies recently completed an eight-game road swing and went 3-5 during the stretch.
UC Davis has dropped four of its last six games after dropping 2-of-3 at UC Santa Barbara last weekend.
Cal Poly has won four straight games after sweeping Pacific in a three-game Big West series... The Mustangs topped Pepperdine 2-1 in 10 innings on May 1.
The Mustangs have won six of 10 weekend series, including four sweeps, and are tied for third in the Big West Conference standings.
Mike Miller owns a .348 batting average and leads the league with 41 runs.
Matt Vaughn was named head coach of the UC Davis baseball team in August 2011 and begins his 20th overall season with Aggie baseball... He pitched for the Aggies from 1989-92, then stayed on as an assistant and associate head coach... Vaughn will also continue his duties as pitching coach.
Larry Lee has led Cal Poly to four straight winning seasons, including a Div. I record 38 wins in 2004... He took the Mustangs to an NCAA Div. I regional in 2009 for the first time in program history... Prior to his appointment at Cal Poly, Lee was head coach at Cuesta College for 16 years.
SCOUTING CAL POLY
Cal Poly picked up its fourth series sweep of the year last weekend after taking three games from Pacific, then topped Pepperdine 2-1 in 10 innings for its fourth straight win.
The Mustangs have won six of 10 weekend series and are tied for third place in the Big West Conference standings.
Senior shortstop Mike Miller owns a .348 batting average and leads the Big West with 41 runs scored... He went 7-for-11 against Pacific last weekend with two home runs, four runs scored and five RBI to earn a spot in the College Baseball Foundation National All-Star Lineup.
Jimmy Allen and Mitch Haniger join Miller as the lone Mustangs who have started all 43 games... Haniger owns a team-leading 46 RBI to go with 14 doubles and nine home runs, both of which also lead Cal Poly... Allen has stolen nine bases in 12 attempts and is batting a team-leading .351.
Friday starter Joey Wagman owns a 2.58 ERA, seventh-best in the conference, and has pitched a league-leading 76.2 innings... His 53 strikeouts tie him for fifth in the Big West.

UC Davis opened the season with a streak of 21 straight games where someone had been hit at least once until the Mar. 30 contest at Hawai'i stopped the streak.
David Popkins has been hit 11 times while Brett Morgan and Nick Lynch have each been hit nine times.
As of Apr. 29, UC Davis ranked 18th nationally in the category.
Popkins now ranks sixth all-time in career hit by pitch with 31... Eric Johnson, who has been hit seven times this year, is fifth all-time with 36.
BARKER'S BIG HITS
Freshman Kevin Barker hit his first career home run on Apr. 27 at UCSB, then followed with another homer in the very next game.
His shot on Apr. 28 brought in two runs to lead UC Davis to a 10-6 win over the Gauchos.
Barker has compiled just five hits in the last four games, but two have been doubles and two have been home runs.
He is tied for the team lead in doubles with 10 and owns a .468 slugging percentage.
UC Davis returns to Dobbins Stadium for the first time since Apr. 17 after completing an eight-game road swing, the longest of the year for the Aggies.
The Aggies own a 6-16 road record after losing five of the eight road games.
UC Davis is 10-8 at Dobbins Stadium where it will play seven of its next eight games.
BRANN BREAKS OUT
Spencer Brann provided UC Davis with a much-needed offensive spark in Wednesday's 11-4 loss to Fresno State.
The sophomore was just a triple away from hitting for the cycle as he went 3-for-4... He hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, doubled to lead off the sixth and hit a single in the eighth.
He also scored twice and drove in two more runs.
Brann has appeared in 27 games, mainly as a designated hitter or pinch hitter, but started his tenth game of the year on Tuesday at catcher... He is batting .354 with a .479 slugging percentage.
UC Davis' last five games have featured 12 doubles and five home runs as the Aggies have homered in four of the last five contests.
Kevin Barker owns two of the home runs while David Popkins, Scott Kalush and Spencer Brann each had a homer of their own.
As a team, UC Davis has hit 12 home runs and 59 doubles in 2012.
