UC Davis makes a short trip to Reno, Nev. to face the Nevada Wolf Pack on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Peccole Park.
Tuesday's game is the only road game for UC Davis over the span of its next five contests... The Aggies are currently playing 7-of-8 at home.
UC Davis took 2-of-3 games from Cal Poly in a key Big West Conference weekend series at Dobbins Stadium... It was the first series win for UC Davis since Apr. 14-15 against Pacific.
Nevada dropped 2-of-3 to Seattle in a nonconference weekend series, but has won five of its last eight games.
Brooks Klein leads the Wolf Pack with a .327 batting average to go with 54 hits, 25 runs, 8 home runs and 38 RBI.
Matt Vaughn was named head coach of the UC Davis baseball team in August 2011 and begins his 20th overall season with Aggie baseball... He pitched for the Aggies from 1989-92, then stayed on as an assistant and associate head coach... Vaughn will also continue his duties as pitching coach.
Gary Powers begins his 30th season as head coach of the Nevada baseball program and owns 900 career wins, all of which have come at Nevada... He has taken four Wolf Pack teams to NCAA Regional appearances, the last of which came in 2000... Last year, Nevada tied for third in the Western Athletic Conference with a 12-12 league mark.
Nevada took a break from Western Athletic Conference action with a three-game series at Seattle... The Wolf Pack dropped two of three games.
The Wolf Pack's 23 triples rank them eighth nationally while their 62 sacrifice bunts rank them 11th nationally.... Nevada has also turned 56 double plays and are the No. 2 team in the country in the category, ranking only behind Illinois (63).

Tuesday starter Barry Timko owns a 4-0 record and a 4.76 ERA in his freshman season... He has struck out 10 in 22.2 innings of work.

LANZA LIGHTS UP
Craig Lanza picked up his first collegiate win on Sunday against Cal Poly, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings against the Mustangs.
Lanza struck out a career-high six batters, including two in the ninth before forcing a fly ball to retire the side and preserve the 5-4 victory.
He also pitched an inning at Fresno State, giving up just one hit and walking one batter.
POLITI WALKS OFF... AGAIN
Paul Politi hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning to score David Popkins and give UC Davis a 5-4 win over Cal Poly.
It capped off a 4-for-6 performance for the junior third baseman who also scored a run in Friday's game.
Politi hit a walk-off home run on Apr. 14 against Pacific to give UC Davis a 1-0 victory.
In the last 11 games, UC Davis has hit 21 doubles, three triples and 10 home runs.
Nick Lynch had two homers against Cal Poly over the weekend as did Scott Kalush... Brett Morgan also hit his first home run of the year and tripled in Sunday's series finale.
As a team, UC Davis has now hit 63 doubles, seven triples and 16 home runs in 2012.

UC Davis returns home for four straight games, hosting Long Beach State in a three-game series starting Friday.
The Aggies then host future Big West Conference opponent Hawai'i on Monday, May 14 at 2:30 p.m.
