ON THE MOUND…
Probable starters for this week's game
Tuesday: RHP Matt Blais (0-3, 4.46 ERA) at RHP Bailey Hansen (0-0, 4.00 ERA)

FIRST PITCH: Winners of three of its last four, a rolling UC Davis baseball team makes the short jaunt to Stockton, Calif., looking to continue the momentum from a series win on the Central Coast, as the Aggies take on former Big West Conference rival Pacific on Tuesday (May 9) at 6:00 p.m. at Klein Family Field.

IN THE POLLS: Neither UC Davis, nor Pacific, are ranked among the top 25 teams this week.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: A correction has been made to the 2017 UC Davis schedule, as the Aggies’ final home series of the regular season against Grand Canyon now begins on Thursday (May 18) at 2:30 p.m., with the final two games scheduled for Friday (May 19) at 2:30 p.m., and Saturday (May 20) at 1 p.m., at Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium. The Aggies will honor their seniors prior to first pitch of the series finale with the Antelopes on Saturday.

ABOUT THE TIGERS: Pacific enters the week with a 15-30 overall record and a 14-9 mark at home this season, after dropping a four-game series on the road at Florida State over the weekend… That came on the heels of a series win over West Coast Conference rival Portland for the Tigers, who are 1-21 on the road this season, but have won three of their last four series at Klein Family Field… Freshman catcher/infielder James Free leads all regulars with a .338 average, slugging 10 doubles, 12 home runs, and driving in 44… Senior outfielder Danny Meyer has also hit 10 home runs and driven in 27, but is batting just .239 on the year… Tuesday's scheduled starter, right-hander Bailey Hansen, has yet to record a decision in 13 appearances, but will be making his second start posting a 4.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 18 innings, giving up 19 hits, and holding opponents to a .264 average this season.

SERIES NOTES: According to records that date back to 1960, the series between UC Davis and Pacific is tied at 49-49-1… The Aggies have won the last eight consecutive games from the Tigers, having swept a regular season series in each of the last two seasons… The eight consecutive wins by UC Davis marks the longest winning streak by either team in the series, surpassing the seven straight victories by Pacific from 1981-84… The Aggies are 19-25 against the Tigers in Stockton, with the locations of 13 games in the series from 1960-66 unknown… UC Davis and Pacific split the 18 contests against one another when both were members of the Big West Conference from 2008-13.

CONFERENCE CALL: UC Davis has faced all 10 members of the current West Coast Conference alignment, having posting a 185-214-4 (.464) record against the league… Aside from its mark against Pacific, the Aggies have also faced: BYU (1-3); Gonzaga (4-4); Loyola Marymount (2-1); Pepperdine (1-6); Portland (9-14); Saint Mary's (45-57-1); San Diego (2-5); San Francisco (30-45-2); and Santa Clara (29-43).

TAKE THAT MOTHER NATURE: The Aggies and Tigers finally meet for the first time this season after their first head-to-head meeting back on Feb. 21 at Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium was postponed due to weather -- one of six games that Mother Nature has put the kibosh on this season. UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara did well to avoid another postponement as the two played a hastily scheduled doubleheader on Saturday (May 6), tiptoeing around a weather forecast that had rain scheduled for Sunday's finale (May 7) in Santa Barbara, Calif.

GARCIA NAMED BIG WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Sophomore left-hander Robert Garcia was named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday (May 8) after tossing a three-hit shutout with a career-high 11 strikeouts in the series finale against UC Santa Barbara, giving UC Davis its third conference series win of the year. SHORT HOPS…
• With their sweep of the Gauchos in a doubleheader on May 6, the Aggies took home their third Big West series win of the season -- their most since 2015 when they also won three conference series…
• The series win over UC Santa Barbara was the fourth for UC Davis against the Gauchos since joining the league in 2008 -- tied for the third most in the history of the program behind the eight series win over CSUN, and the five against Long Beach State…
• Each of the Aggies' last six Big West series wins have seen them take 2-of-3 from their opponents dating back to a sweep of UC Riverside in 2015…
• This weekend's series win at UC Santa Barbara marked only the third on the road for UC Davis in Big West play in its last 10 conference series wins…
• Of the Aggies' 29 all-time series wins in Big West play 18 have come at home, while 11 have been on the road…
• The seven conference wins this season surpassed last season's total and are the most since the Aggies finished 9-15 in league play in 2015…
• With his three-hit shutout against the Gauchos in the series finale, sophomore left-hander Robert Garcia and junior left-hander Orlando Razo became the first UC Davis hurlers to throw a shutout in the same season since Anthony Kupbens, Dayne Quist (twice), and Tom Briner (twice), did so in 2012…
• Garcia's 11 strikeouts were a career high and the third time this season that a UC Davis pitcher has reached double digits in strikeouts: Razo did so with his Division I era record 13 K's against Utah Valley on Feb. 25 and 10 more against Cal Poly on April 14 at Raley Field…
Ryan Anderson's sixth home run of the season in the opener against the Gauchos tied him with teammate Cameron Olson for the team lead and gave the Aggies 25 for the season -- the second-highest total in the program's Division I history behind the 34 hit in 2008…
• Anderson and Olson each extended their respective hitting streaks to 11 games with their performances last week -- the longest by an Aggie hitter this season and the longest since Tanner Bily hit safely in 12 consecutive games from May 8-28 of last season…
• Anderson's third-inning single that drove home Jacob Thomas with the first run of the game in the series finale with UCSB marked the sophomore's second game-winning hit of the year -- one five Aggies (Alex Aguiar, Mark Cardinalli, Olson, and Brad Pluschkell) with a pair this season…
• Thomas' run, meanwhile, was his fourth game-winning run of the season, breaking a tie with Olson for the top spot on the team.
