DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis junior Scott Lyman was drafted by the Florida Marlins Tuesday on the second day of the 2010 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.

Lyman, who entered the draft as a right-handed pitcher, was selected in the tenth round.

Additionally, the San Francisco Giants selected right-handed pitcher Joe Biagini in the 26th round.

Lyman finished the 2011 season with a 4.64 earned run average and an overall record of 3-6. In 87.1 innings of work, he struck out 67 batters and gave up only 51 runs, 45 of which were earned on 88 hits. Opponents hit .276 against him.

He also provided the Aggies with power as a batter, hitting .250 for the year with 16 runs, three home runs and 18 RBI.

It marks the fifth straight year that the Aggies have had a player drafted in the first 10 rounds.

Lyman is the fourth UC Davis baseball player to join the Marlins' organization. Bryan Evans was taken in the 14th round in 2008 while outfielder Hayward Cook went to Florida in the ninth round in 1994. Current UC Davis assistant coach Tony Schifano signed as an undrafted free agent in 1997.

Biagini made 13 appearances in his debut season with UC Davis after transferring from the College of San Mateo. The righty posted a 3-1 record and an ERA of 7.47, striking out 18 batters in 15.2 innings of work. He gave up 14 runs, 12 of which were earned, on 24 hits.

He joins a list of seven other Aggies chosen by San Francisco and is the third selection in four years as the Giants picked Ryan Scoma and Justin Fitzgerald in 2009 and 2008, respectively. Outfielder Tyler LaTorre (2006) and pitcher Dave McKae (2005) each signed as free agents while right-handed pitcher Greg Bruso went in the 16th round in 2002. Steve Keeney was a 20th-round selection in 1982 while Jim Saunders, a catcher and first baseman, went to the Giants as a free agent in 1980.

The draft concludes Wednesday with rounds 31-50.
