Highlighted his year with season-high 13 points vs. UC Santa Barbara (1/6) while playing season-best 26 minutes... Hit 5 of 7 from the floor and 3 of 5 from 3-pt... Had 10 treys for the season overall... Had 6 boards twice in a game... Blocked 10 shots during a three-game span in November.
WOODCREEK HS '10: A four year member of the varsity team at Woodcreek High School... Named a captain as a sophomore and averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks per game... Was team MVP as a junior and received All-League Second Team honors... Helped team to a 27-4 record as a senior, finishing first in their league en route to a section title... Named to the All-Sierra League First Team as a senior... Was also an Optimist All-Star as a senior, after averaging 15 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for the season... Also played tennis in high school... Had over a 3.75 GPA at Woodcreek and was part of the National Honors Society.
PERSONAL: Born in San Francisco, Calif... parents are Kevin and Wendy Kurtz... Has one younger sibling, Andrew... Sports hero is Albert Pujols and non-sports heros are his parents... Would title his autobiography "Life from the bird's eye view."
