2007-08: Played in and started all 31 games... One of three Aggies to start every game... Averaged 9.3 points and 5.2 rebounds to go along with 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals... Had one of the finest freshman seasons in UC Davis history... Named Big West Conference Freshman of the Year... Also named Mid-Major Freshman All-America and Mid-Major Freshman of the Year by CollegeInsider.com... Led Big West freshmen in virtually every offensive category and was a model of consistency from start to finish... Finished with 10 points or more 13 times, including a season-high 19 points against Sacramento State (3/1)... Sac. State game proved to be a historic game as he became just the third Aggie to post a triple-double (19 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists)... Team won first Sac-Joaquin Section title since 1989 and made its first-ever CIF state title game appearance... Averaged 10 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds per game in 2005-06... Named to all-tournament teams at Jesuit and South Lake Tahoe... Also selected to Sac vs. Bay Showdown All-Star Game.

PERSONAL: Born in Lubbock, Texas... Majoring in economics... Parents are H.J. & Candy Payne... Would title his autobiography "No Payne, No Gain"... Career highlight prior to UC Davis was winning the CIF NorCal championship as a senior.
