2009-10: Missed eight games due to various injuries, starting in all 24 games he appeared in... Payne is the Big West active career leader in three separate categories entering the 2010-11 season, including points (964), assists (352) and steals (149)... was second on the team and sixth in the conference in scoring with 15.4 points per game... Also led the team in assists (4.4) and steals (2.1) and was second in field-goal percentage (.518), three point percentage (.458) and free throw percentage (.834)... recorded six 20-point games... Finished 27th in the nation with 2.1 steals per game... Scored a career high 28 points against Whittier on Dec. 30 after 10 of 15 shooting.
2008-09: ALL-BIG WEST CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM...Started all 29 games he appeared in...Averaged 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game...Also led team in minutes per game (33.1), field-goal percentage (.675), steals (1.4), blocks (0.5) and assists (5.1)...Finished 27th in the nation with 2.35 assist/turnover ratio and 34th in assists per game...Led Big West in assists...Posted three double-doubles...The first came against UC Riverside (1/8) with 16 points and 10 rebounds...Scored career-high 22 points against Long Beach State (1/10) to go along with another 10 boards...Finished with 12 points and season-high 10 assists against Cal State Fullerton (2/14)...Had 7 or more assists in 8 games....Tied career-high with 11 rebounds in opener at Iowa State (11/15)...Missed three games due to injuries (11/28 vs Tulane, 11/29 at South Alabama and 2/28 at UC Santa Barbara).
2007-08: BIG WEST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR...Started all 31 games... One of three Aggies to start every game... Averaged 9.3 points and 5.2 rebounds to go along with 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals... Had one of the finest freshman seasons in UC Davis history... Named Mid-Major Freshman All-America and Mid-Major Freshman of the Year by CollegeInsider.com... Led Big West freshmen in virtually every offensive category and was a model of consistency from start to finish... Finished with 10 points or more 13 times, including a season-high 19 points against Sacramento State (3/1)... Sac. State game proved to be a historic game as he became just the third Aggie to post a triple-double (19 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists)... Led team in rebounding and hauled in a season-high in the Sac. State game... Had 9 rebounds in three games while grabbing at least 7 rebounds in 10 games... Led the team by shooting .524 from the floor... Led UC Davis with 1,035 minutes played (33.4 per game).
ST. MARY'S HS '06: Won first-team All-Tri-City Athletic League honors as a senior, helping Rams to 31-4 record and CIF NorCal Division III title... Team won first Sac-Joaquin Section title since 1989 and made its first-ever CIF state title game appearance... Averaged 10 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds per game in 2005-06... Named to all-tournament teams at Jesuit and South Lake Tahoe... Also selected to Sac vs. Bay Showdown All-Star Game..
