NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Ian Boylan scored a game-high 22 points to lead four Matadors in double figures as Cal State Northridge defeated UC Davis 99-72 in a men's basketball game Monday evening at the Matadome.

With the loss the Aggies fall to 10-17 on the season while Northridge improves to 16-11.

It was too much Northridge as the Matadors had it going at both ends. Offensively, they shot a blistering 67.3 percent from the field, including 73.9 percent in the second half as the 99 points marked an Aggie opponent season-high this year. Northridge's shooting was not limited to two-pointers as it connected for 75 percent of its three-point attempts, making 9 of 12.

Defensively, Northridge forced UC Davis into 19 turnovers, its most since committing 25 in the first meeting between these two teams last month in Davis.

One bright spot for the Aggies was senior guard Fowzi Abdelsamad, whose four three-pointers gave him 82 for the season, breaking Jason Rabedeaux's single-season mark of 80 set in 1988.

The Aggies cut the lead to 13 early in the second half following two Madison Butts free throws, but that was as close as they came. UC Davis went without a field goal for almost six minutes midway through the second half as Northridge stretched its lead to 26 at 75-49, with 7:57 remaining.

The Matadors shot 62 percent in the first half as they raced to a 19-6 lead in the opening six minutes. The Aggies cut it to six following back-to-back jumpers from JaQay Carlyle and Abdelsamad at the 8:11 mark, but UC Davis would hit just one more field goal the rest of the period.

Northridge closed the half on a 9-3 run over the final three minutes to take a 47-33 lead into halftime.

Abdelsamad led the way for UC Davis with 19 points while Thomas Juillerat added 12, making 8-of-12 free throws. The Aggies finished the night shooting 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range.

In addition to Boylan's 22 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, Calvin Chitwood added 15 points and Joseph Frazier chipped in 12 points, six boards and nine assists.

UC Davis concludes its 2004-05 campaign on Saturday when they travel to Greeley, Colo., to face Northern Colorado.
