AMES, Iowa - UC Davis was defeated by Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 81-75, Saturday afternoon at the World Vision Classic in Ames, Iowa. Ryan Silva scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Aggies, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers overcame a 51-27 halftime deficit. The loss drops UC Davis to 0-2 on the year while UWM improved to 2-0.

Joe Harden posted 11 points and 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double. Vince Oliver and Mark Payne each added 10 points. Payne added five assists and two steals.

The Panthers opened the game with an 11-5 lead before the Aggies seized control for the remainder of the first half. From that point, UC Davis outscored Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 46-16 and led by 24 points at the break. The Aggies shot 53 percent from the field in the first half while holding the Panthers to just 35 percent.

UWM opened the second half with a 10-0 run and eventually pulled within 63-53 at the 11:58 mark. The margin remained 10 when Harden made a pair of free throws five minutes later to give UC Davis a 67-57 lead. The Panthers then went on an 11-2 run and trailed 69-68 with 4:22 left.

A jumper by Dominic Calegari made it 71-68 with four minutes remaining before UWM closed the game with a 13-3 burst.

Ricky Franklin led five Panthers in double figures with 18. Tone Boyle and Anthony Hill each added 16. UWM shot 70 percent in the second half and finished 52 percent from the field. The Aggies finished 43 percent while outrebounding the Panthers, 37-31.

UC Davis closes out the World Vision Classic Sunday when it takes on Loyola Marymount (0-2) at 2:30 p.m. PST.
