DAVIS, Calif. - Hey fans, wear Aggie Blue on Saturday night while cheering on the UC Davis men's and women's basketball teams during their Big West Conference showdowns with Pacific during Break the Record and Pack the Pavilion night.
Tipoff for the women's game is 4:45 p.m. while the men's matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. As part of a unique twist, both Aggie teams will be wearing their traditional Aggie Blue road uniforms as opposed to their traditional white apparel normally worn for home games. Aggie Pack students wearing Aggie Blue in the student section will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Kaplan Test Prep courses will also be given away during the evening.
All fans are encouraged to join in the excitement by wearing Aggie Blue and helping the UC Davis teams against their local rivals.
The Aggie women's team is hoping to break the top 2006-07 attendance mark of 878 fans while the men's team is hoping to Pack The Pavilion as well. The UC Davis men's team attracted 5,776 fans to its game against Oregon State earlier this season.
This weekend's men's game will also feature both coaching staffs wearing sneakers with their usual gameday suits. It's all part of Coaches vs. Cancer® National Awareness Weekend as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the American Cancer Society team to bring more attention to the fight against cancer. UC Davis head coach Gary Stewart is on the prestigious NABC Board of Directors, a board that also includes Jim Boeheim (Syracuse), Tom Izzo (Michigan State), Bill Self (Kansas) and Ernie Kent (Oregon).
Saturday's game is presented by UC Davis Health System.
