DAVIS, Calif. - An opportunity to extend its 19-game home win streak, and take sole possession of first place is what UC Davis will face Thursday night, vs. UC Santa Barbara, when it returns to Hamilton Court to kick-off a home-heavy portion of its schedule. Starting with this head-to-head matchup, men's basketball will play four of its next four games inside the Pavilion. Of those two road games taking place un the upcoming weeks, one of them includes next Saturday's series finale at UC Santa Barbara.

A chance to win free Mikuni sushi for a year is also at stake for a handful of lucky individuals who attend this key Big West clash between the league's two best teams.

Both teams sport identical 7-2 conference records and hold the two longest current win streaks: the Aggies won their last four straight and the Gauchos claimed victories in their last six. These teams also sport the highest win totals among all BWC squads at 16 and 18 respectively; Hawai'i is ranked third with 13.

UC Davis, a team that won its last 19 straight at home -- this is the fourth-longest in the nation behind Cincinnati (37), Purdue (21) and Vermont (20) -- will square off against the only other league team with an unblemished home mark. Both teams also sport a league-high six road wins, a total that the Aggies would like to keep as is for the Gauchos in their lone game of the week.

With four weeks of league play remaining, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara have started to separate themselves from a Big West logjam that includes five teams within two games of each other. The only two BWC teams included in this week's College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll lead the league in a variety of categories, and are ranked 1-2 in:

Field Goal Percentage: UC Davis (.472), UC Santa Barbara (.468)
Turnover Margin: UC Davis (+2.3), UC Santa Barbara (+1.1)
Scoring Margin: UC Santa Barbara (+7.8), UC Davis (+5.3)

Thursday's contest will also feature the league's No. 1 defense -- even after allowing 105 points in Saturday's game at Long Beach State, UC Davis' opponents are scoring a league-low 67.3 ppg -- against the league's top offense in UC Santa Barbara, a team that averages 77.5 ppg.

When one considers that, in conference games, both teams are ranked in the top four in scoring offense, scoring defense and field goal percentage defense, this upcoming game has the potential to become another instant classic for the Aggies.

At all February men's basketball home games, fans will have an opportunity to support UC Davis' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the Yolo County SPCA, during its annual coin drive.

For the fourth year in a row, Big West Conference institutions will donate 100 percent of the funds raised to their designated charities, with the top three fundraising totals earning a cash prize toward their respective SAAC's budget.

Over the last 10 years, conference members have combined to raise nearly $197,000.

Series Record:
UC Davis trails 28-9
Last UC Davis Win: 2/4/17 - A, 67-64
Last UC Santa Barbara Win: 3/10/16 - N, 87-61
Series Streak: UC Davis +2
