DAVIS, Calif. - When Thursday's game at Cal State Fullerton officially tips, the second round of Big West Conference games will start for UC Davis-as will the jockeying for the best possible seeds by all teams for this year's Tournament.
Earlier this season, the Aggies comfortably held off the Titans to capture their second straight victory against the orange and blue. Last year, inside Titan Gym, Josh Ritchart stepped up to take a charge with 7.1 seconds left in the game, and his team up by one, to negate a would-be go-ahead basket by Fullerton. With the Titans forced to foul, Tyler Les and Corey Hawkins knocked down their free throws to record a three-point victory.
A win will give the Aggies their first sweep over the Titans since the 2009-10 season, a year that also includes an opening-round win
SCOUTING CAL STATE FULLERTON
Coming off a nine-point overtime loss at Cal State Northridge last Saturday, Cal State Fullerton will host UC Davis before ending its week against Hawai'i. Including that game, the Titans have lost six of their last seven games, a block of results that also includes its eight-point loss in Davis.
Senior Michael Williams pieced together consecutive 20-point performances last week to extend his streak of scoring in double figures to 22 straight games. He has also reached the 20-point threshold in five of his last nine games, and seven times overall this season.
Junior Alex Harris has recorded back-to-back 20-point efforts, culminating with a career-high 27 points against CSUN. The 6-1 guard has posted eight straight double-digit scoring outings, averaging 17.4 points during that span. Harris also knocked down a career-high and a Titan season-high seven three-pointers against the Matadors.
Series Record: Cal State Fullerton leads 11-10
Last UC Davis Win: 69-61 (1/18/14) in Davis
Last Cal State Fullerton Win: 95-88 (1/24/13) in Davis
Current Streak: UC Davis +2
ESPN2 RETURNS TO THE PAVILION

Monday's selection was determined using a "Wild Card" format that enabled the network to broadcast one of the four Big West men's basketball games taking place that day. With its decision, ESPN2 will broadcast a nationally televised UC Davis home game for the second time in as many seasons.

A RARE OCCURRENCE
Until the Aggies hosted UC Irvine (2/8) Ryan Sypkens recorded at least one three-point field goal in 40 straight games. UC Davis' 2012-13 Big West opener, at UC Irvine on Dec. 29, was the last time Sypkens did not score a basket from three prior to this year's UC Davis home game against the Anteaters.
HAWKINS FEELS GRAND
Against Cal State Northridge, junior guard Corey Hawkins reached the 1,000 career point milestone, and helped the Aggies record a four-point overtime victory, thanks to his 27-point performance.
As a freshman at Arizona State, Hawkins recorded 49 points before transferring to UC Davis; in his first season as an Aggie, he set a new school record by scoring 569 points-the most ever recorded by a UC Davis sophomore-and enters Thursday's game with 376 to his credit this year.
HOW DID HE SCORE 1,000 AGAIN?
Successful in recording his 1,000th career point, little time will pass before junior guard Corey Hawkins scores his 1,000th point as an Aggie. Midway through his second season, Hawkins has already amassed 991 points at UC Davis.
Last season, Hawkins scored 569 points, the most ever recorded by an Aggie as a sophomore; he enters Saturday's game with 403 points scored this season.
If successful, Hawkins will become the second Aggie to cross the 1,000-point threshold as member of UC Davis men's basketball this season, joining senior guard Ryan Sypkens who reached this milestone in last November's Causeway Cup battle.
A PERFECT 300
Throughout the Big West Conference's 45-year history, only three players have scored 300 or more field goals from three. This list includes:
Adam Jacobsen (Pacific, 1993-98): 311 3FGM
Mike Wozniak (Cal Poly, 1996-2000): 308
Bobby Brown (Cal State Fullerton, 2003-07): 307
If Ryan Sypkens cans another three shots from behind the arc, the senior guard will join this elite list of conference sharpshooters.
CLIMBING THE LEAGUE'S THREE-POINT LADDER
Including his three treys-against Cal State Fullerton, senior Ryan Sypkens continued his ascent up the Big West career chart. Now ranked No. 4 with 297 career treys, the senior guard needs 11 buckets from distance to jump past Cal State Fullerton's Bobby Brown (307 3FGM; 2003-07) into the No. 3 spot.
666 - THE MARK OF A TRUE TEAM PLAYER
Corey Hawkins has earned six assists in three consecutive games for the Aggies when they faced Cal Poly (1/30), UC Santa Barbara (2/1) and Cal State Northridge (2/6). Those assist totals were the highest posted by an Aggie on all three occasions.
