DAVIS, Calif. -
UC Davis sophomore Harrison Dupont, who was instrumental in each of the Aggies' two recent wins, was named as the College Sports Madness Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the website announced on Monday.
DuPont, a 6-foot-5 forward from Midwestern City, Okla., averaged 18.0 ppg. and 6.5 rpg. as UC Davis downed rival Pacific 73-64 last Tuesday and then staged a memorable comeback to beat Northern Arizona 70-65 on Saturday.
DuPont came off the bench to lead UC Davis in scoring in both games, scoring a then career-high 17 points against Pacific before beating that with 19 points against the Lumberjacks. He was especially effective in the second-half of both games, picking up 14 points and seven rebounds after halftime versus the Tigers, and then scoring 11 points - including the final seven of the game - against Northern Arizona as UC Davis rallied from a 19-point halftime deficit.
His eight boards against Pacific also marked a career-high. For the week, he shot 56.5 percent from the field, averaged two assists and picked up two blocked shots.
