IRVINE, Calif. -  Without TJ Shorts II's contributions last week, UC Davis would not have ended the regular season with a Big West title. He notched his sixth 20-point game in the Aggies' last eight played by finishing with 21 in Saturday's showdown at UC Irvine, and scored 15 of them after halftime.

But it was a key steal that took place with 27 seconds left in OT, which led to a pair of free throws, tied the score at 79 and pushed the game into triple overtime — one the Aggies ran away with by outscoring the host Anteaters, 11-5, in the final period. And with that effort, league officials announced that Shorts II is the winner of its final Big West Player of the Week award of the season.

The Tustin native averaged 21.0 ppg, shot 43% overall, 33% from three, 80% at the line, averaged 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game last week.

Shorts II, and his teammates, will compete in the opening game of this year's Big West Tournament when UC Davis faces UC Riverside in a 12 p.m. quarterfinal at the Honda Center. FOX College Sports Pacific (Central and Northern California) and FOX Sports West (Southern California) will televise this matchup, a live stream is also available to subscribers of the FOX Sports package on their respective cable/satellite network on
