DAVIS, Calif. - Named National Player of the Week after his record-breaking performance at Hawai'i earlier this season, College Insider recognized Corey Hawkins once again by naming him the Big West Conference's Most Valuable Player.
Entering Thursday's nationally televised home game against Long Beach State, the sophomore guard holds the school record for the most points scored in a game with his 40-point effort (on 14 shots) at Hawai'i last Jan. 19, and sits alongside Tyler Les and Ryan Sypkens for the most three-point field goals recorded in a game with eight.
Hawkins is also ranked No. 13 nationally in scoring at 20.5 ppg and is No. 43 at the free throw line with a .856 success rate.
In addition to being ranked No. 1 in the Big West in scoring and No. 2 in free throw percentage, Hawkins is also No. 7 in defensive rebounds (4.6 drpg) and steals (1.5 spg), No. 9 in three-point field goal percentage (.409 3FG pct.), No. 10 in three-point field goals made (3.8 3FGM) and No. 15 in rebounding (5.5 rpg).
