BOSTON - Sophomore guard Corey Hawkins earned one of 25 spots on the Lou Henson All-America Team, an honor bestowed to the top mid-major players in Division I college basketball as announced on Monday.
In addition to receiving national acclaim by College Insider, Hawkins also received Big West Newcomer of the Year and All-Big West First Team accolades in addition to finishing the season as the conference's scoring champion - a first for UC Davis.
The Goodyear, Ariz. native joins Long Beach State senior James Ennis as the only two players from the Big West Conference to earn spots on this exclusive list.
Only three underclassmen received All-American status; besides Hawkins, BYU's Tyler Haws and Niagara's Juan'ya Green were the only sophomores honored as zero freshmen were recognized in this year's group.
Rather than assemble a first team, second team, third team and honorable mention, the Lou Henson All-America team is one squad consisting of 25 players.
