DAVIS, Calif. -
College Insider recognized UC Davis basketball, a team that competed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament after capturing the program's first Big West Conference Tournament championship last season, by selecting the Aggies to its Preseason Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. In the media outlet's inaugural listing, the Aggies are receiving votes.

UC Davis is no stranger to this national poll; the No. 6 public school in the nation has been featured on a regular basis throughout the last three years, especially throughout its historic season, which ended with the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, and a berth in the Midwest Regional's First Round.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast and Western Athletic.

The Aggies will have their first chance to climb this poll after facing Northern Colorado in their 2017-18 season opener, which will take place on Nov. 13 in Greeley, Colo. This is the first of five straight games taking place outside of Davis; included in this block of action is this year's Causeway rivalry game against Sacramento State, which will take place inside the Golden 1 Center for the second straight year.

Before the season officially begins, UC Davis will host Bethesda, in its only exhibition matchup of the season, on Nov. 7. Action inside the Pavilion will begin that night at 7 p.m.
