OPENING TIPS: The Aggies embark on the first of six road games over the next seven on the schedule when they travel for a first-ever matchup with Eastern Washington... The Eagles are the second straight Big Sky Conference member for UC Davis and the first of two opponents from Washington (also at Seattle, 2/20)... The schedule also begins to slow down a bit for the Aggies who played six games in 12 days but only have two over the next 18... A break for final exams will help account for some of that time... This weekend also marks the first of four out-of-state games for UC Davis which may have a fifth depending on the location of its ESPNU Bracketbusters opponent in February... The Aggies are averaging 24 three-point attempts a game, second-most in the Big West behind Pacific which is taking 26.7 per game... UC Davis is making 8.5 of them per game, first in the league and just ahead of the Tigers (8.3)...  The Aggies rank among the top five places in eight Big West stat categories including 3-pt FG pct. (.354, 2nd), FT pct. (.700, 3rd) and FG pct. (.440, 4th)... Eight different players have scored in double-figures for UC Davis with G/F Josh Ritchart (6), F Harrison Dupont (3), G Ryan Howley (3), G Ryan Sypkens and G Tyrell Corbin (2) doing it multiple times... The Aggies continue to shoot it well from the free throw line, going 13 for 17 (.765) against Sacramento State and 78.0 percent over their last three games... UC Davis continues to try and find its way on the boards, averaging just 29.7 rpg while opponents are grabbing 38.0... Opponents are averaging 13.7 offensive rebounds per game.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. EAGLES: Sunday's game is the first-ever between UC Davis and Eastern Washington... The Aggies are 0-1 (L, Sacramento State) against current Big Sky  teams this year and 51-78 (.395) all-time, a mark skewed by a 44-65 record against the nearby Hornets... UC Davis has faced Portland State five times (PSU, 3-2) and Northern Colorado four times (UCD, 3-1).

EAGLES SCOUTING REPORT: Eastern Washington has split its first four games, beating South Dakota (70-61) in its only home game on Nov. 15, while dropping close road matchups at Gonzaga (77-69) in their opener and at Oregon (73-65) last week... EWU is coming off an 89-72 road win at Hawai'i on Tuesday night, a game it led just 33-29 at halftime before exploding in the second half... F COLLIN CHIVERTON (20 pts), F CLIFF EDERAINE (18), G CLIFF COLIMON (15) and G JEFFREY FORBES (14) each scored in double figures for the Eagles who were 24 of 26 (.923) from the line, had just 11 turnovers and shot 56.7 percent from the field after intermission.. Chiverton (19.5), Colimon (12.5) and Ederaine (10.0) lead the team in scoring... Chiverton has made 17 treys and is shooting 47.2 percent from long distance... EWU is outscoring its opponents (73.2-70.8) but is being outrebounded (38.8-35.2).... It's also holding its foes to just 27.5 percent from three-point.

SACRAMENTO STATE 69, UC DAVIS 61:  The Hornets fought back from a 17-point first-half deficit to upend UC Davis in a nonconference men's basketball game played before 1,847 fans at The Pavilion on Tuesday night, offsetting a career-high 16 points from the Aggies' G Tyler Les who had a game-high four three-pointers... Sophomore F Harrison Dupont added 15 points and G/F Josh Ritchart had 10... Sacramento State owned a 42-30 rebounding advantage, turning the tide after the Aggies led 17-15 in that department at halftime when they were up 32-22... Ritchart's three-pointer late in the first half put UC Davis in front 32-15 but the Hornets closed the opening 20 minutes on a 7-0 run to trail 32-22 at the break... A 10-0 Hornets run put them in front 54-50 with 4:40 to go... Les later scored to tie the game at 54-54 but Sacramento State scored five straight to assume control... The Aggies held the Hornets to just 34.4 percent from the field overall and led 32-15 in the first half before Sacramento State rallied.

HOWLEY DOING IT ON THE BOARDS: G Ryan Howley entered the season averaging 3.7 rpg for his career but is off to a good start this year, leading the team with a 6.7 rpg average... He had a career-high nine boards against Bryant, grabbed eight versus Stanford and finished with seven against the Hornets... Howley is currently ninth among all Big West players.

CORBIN IS GIVING AND TAKING: Freshman G Tyrell Corbin is making his presence felt early on... He is ranked tied for fourth in the Big West for steals (1.5 pg) and is ninth for assists (3.3)... And, for good measure, he's 10th in free throws (.826), a mark helped by him going 10 for 10 in the last seven minutes to help beat UC Santa Cruz... Corbin's 20 total assists are eight more than his closest teammate.

LES SCORES CAREER-HIGH 16: G Tyler Les was a bright spot during the Aggies' tough loss to Sacramento State on Tuesday, making four three-pointers and scoring a career-best 16 points... His treys tied the four he had last year against Notre Dame de Namur when he had his previous scoring high of 12 points... Les has 10 three-pointers this year, one of three Aggies with at least that many.

BATTLE OF THE BOARDS: UC Davis has lost the rebounding war in five of six games so far, including by double-digits in each of the last two games... The Aggies led Sacramento State by two boards at halftime of their game on Tuesday before the Hornets finished with a 42-30 advantage... UC Davis currently ranks eighth in the Big West in rebounding margin (-8.3 pg) and ninth in rebounds overall (29.7).

INJURIES SLOW ATTACK: Senior G Eddie Miller has dressed for just two games and 14 total minutes due to injury, F Harrison Dupont missed the first three games and G Ryan Sypkens has been sidelined for the past two... Miller is the team's leading returning scorer from 2010-11, DuPont has been effective since returning to the lineup, and Sypkens averaged 14.5 ppg before missing time.

SYPKENS FROM LONG RANGE: G Ryan Sypkens made 66 three-pointers during his sophomore season last year and got off to a strong start as a junior, canning 14 (3.5 avg.) over his first four games... He led the Big West for treys made (3.5) earlier this season... He had 19 points against both Southern Utah and San Diego State at the season-opening Basketball Traveler's Classic hosted by the Aztecs... While it doesn't officially count, Sypkens had a monster game against Menlo in an exhibition on Nov. 4, making a half-dozen three-pointers and scoring 30 points.

RITCHART RETURNS: G/F Josh Ritchart, made his true freshman season with the Aggies last year a memorable one, earning Big West Co-Freshman of the Year and Freshman Mid-Major All-America (CollegeInsider.com) honors after averaging 7.9 ppg and 2.5 rpg... He ranked second in the Big West in three-point pct. (.409) and had a breakout game at UCLA when he scored 23 points (9 of 12 FG)... He had five treys against the Bruins... He also had 20 points in an early Big West game at Cal State Fullerton.

DUPONT MAKING DUPER DEBUT: Injury sidelined F Harrison Dupont for the first three games of the season but he has been impressive since, making his Aggie debut against UC Santa Cruz on Nov. 15... He's averaged 13.3 ppg in his three games, is shooting 50 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the line... DuPont has twice scored 15 points as well... He came to the Aggies after starting 19 games at The Citadel in 2009-10, averaging 8.3 ppg. and earning Southern Conference All-Freshman Team accolades from both the coaches and media.

REPLACING SCORING PUNCH: UC Davis lost its top two scorers to graduation in G Mark Payne (15.5 ppg) and G Joe Harden (14.9), both now playing professionally... The duo represented 42.7 percent of the Aggies' scoring last season... However, UC Davis returns the next eight scorers on the list, led by G Eddie Miller (12.5) who was third overall.

SUPER SENIOR SILVA: G Ryan Silva returns for his fifth year on the court after receiving a medical hardship waiver for the 2009-10 season when injury limited him to just eight games... Silva is a career 41.5-percent shooter from three-point territory who made 55 over his first two seasons, including 34 in 2008-09.

NBA PEDIGREES: UC Davis features three players whose fathers have played in the NBA... G Tyler Les is the son of head coach Jim Les who spent seven seasons in the NBA, including four with the Sacramento Kings; G Tyrell Corbin is the son of current Utah Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin who played 13 years professionally; and G Corey Hawkins is the son of former NBA sharpshooter Hersey Hawkins, currently an executive with the Portland Trailblazers... Hawkins, who transferred from Arizona State this fall, will not play this season due to NCAA transfer rules... He'll have three years remaining.

LES ASSEMBLES STRONG STAFF: HEAD COACH Jim Les went near and far when putting together his assistant coaches... Kevin Nosek, a member of the Aggies' 1998 NCAA Division II Championship team, returns for his ninth year with the program while fellow alum Gus Argenal, who graduated in 2004, is back for his second stint with UC Davis... He was most recently at Chico State... Veteran Chris Davis, who Les faced in the Missouri Valley while he was at Bradley and Davis at Drake, joins the Aggies after three seasons in the Big East at Providence where he was the Friars' recruiting coordinator.

ROSTER MAKEUP: Ten of UC Davis' 16 players are underclassmen... Broken down, the Aggies' roster is comprised of four freshman, six sophomores, three juniors and three seniors.

COMING VIA TRANSFER: Four players have made their way to UC Davis from other schools, three of them from Div. I programs... G Eddie Miller (Cal), F Harrison Dupont (The Citadel) and G Corey Hawkins (Arizona State) are four-year transfers while G Paolo Mancasola is a JC transfer from Shasta College, although he did redshirt a season at the University of San Diego.

FIFTH YEAR IN BIG WEST: The Aggies enter their fifth season in the Big West Conference after officially joining the league in 2007... UC Davis is 21-43 (.328) in its previous four seasons, earning trips to the conference tournament in 2009 and 2010, the latter when it advanced to the semifinals... The Aggies are 46-81 (.362) at the Div. I level overall... They had a program-best 14 wins in 2009-10, finishing 14-18 overall.

CHALLENGING SCHEDULE: UC Davis' schedule has it facing 2010 NCAA Tournament teams San Diego State, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara (twice) during the 2011-12 season while facing Pac-12 member Stanford at home (L,70-49, Nov. 18)... The matchup at UCLA will be played at Honda Center in Anaheim, site of the Big West Tournament... SDSU earned a spot in the Sweet 16 last season...  The Aggies will face teams from The Summit League and Northeast, Big Sky, Western Athletic and Pac-12 conferences.

UC DAVIS SIGNS THREE: The Aggies announced G DARIUS GRAHAM (Sacramento HS, Sacramento, Calif.) and F TYLER OTT (Desert Hills HS, St. George, Utah) signed National Letters of Intent during the first day of the signing period on Nov. 9 and then added G OLIVIER-PAUL BETU (Worcester Academy; Worcester, Mass.) this past Wednesday... Graham averaged 10.6 ppg and was an All-Metro Conference first-team pick last year while helping the Dragons to the NorCal Regional semifinal final... Ott averaged 14.6 ppg last year and is an all-state honoree at Desert Hills... Betu, originally from Montreal, is the fourth-rated guard in Canada's prep class of 2012 and the 18th-rated player overall... He averaged 15.1 ppg. and 5.1 assists last year.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Aggies will return from Washington to host Idaho in the first meeting between those teams since the 1985-86 season... It'll be the final game before breaking for final exams.
