USAFA, Colo. - The UC Davis men's basketball team will continue its non-conference schedule Tuesday night when it squares off against Air Force at the United State Air Force Academy in Colorado. It will be the first meeting between the Aggies and Falcons. The game can be heard live on KFSG 1690-AM as well as at www.ucdavisaggies.com.
UC Davis (3-7) is coming off a 68-57 loss at Fresno State on Thursday night. Joe Harden returned to the lineup after missing the previous two games and led UC Davis with 16 points. Dominic Calegari scored 14, and Mark Payne finished with 11. The short-handed Aggies trailed by just two points with eight minutes left before the Bulldogs used a 12-2 run to pull away. Each team used strong defense to force one another into 19 turnovers. UC Davis outrebounded Fresno State, 32-30. Calegari led the Aggies with eight boards.
Air Force enters the game with a 5-4 record. The Falcons are coming off a 60-52 loss at home to Northern Arizona on Saturday night. The squad opened the season with four wins in its first five games before dropping three of its last four. Victories have come against Western State, Dickinson State, Charleston Southern, North Carolina Central and Prairie View A&M. Additional losses were against Northern Colorado, Missouri State and Washington State. Grant Parker, who has missed the past two games, leads Air Force with 17.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Evan Washington is averaging 12.7 points, and Tom Fow is posting 10.0. The Falcons have played all but two of their games at home where they are 5-2.
The game concludes a three-game road stretch for the Aggies. It started with single-game trips to Stanford on Dec. 13 and Fresno State last Thursday. Following the game at Air Force, UC Davis doesn't play again until Dec. 30 at home against Whittier College.
