LAS VEGAS - For his outstanding performances throughout the Aggies' stay in Las Vegas, event officials named junior communication major TJ Shorts II to the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic All-Tournament Team.
In UC Davis' games against Lamar and Radford, Shorts II recorded more steals (6), free throws made (21) — seven more than the next ranked player — and free throw attempts (12) among all participating players. He also shot .556 from the floor, and posted the second-highest individual figures by scoring 41 points and averaging 20.5 points per game.
When UC Davis, the sixth-ranked public school in the nation, faced Lamar, he scored a career-high 25 points and connected on all 13 free throw attempts to lift UC Davis to a 77-68 victory. That afternoon, Shorts II scored 13 of the Aggies' final 20 points.
The following day vs. Radford, Shorts II scored 16 points, led all players with a career-high five steals and four assists.
UC Davis will enjoy its holiday hiatus before returning to action on Dec. 30 when Holy Names visits the Pavilion for a 2 p.m. matchup, the final non-conference game before the Aggies open league play on Jan. 4 at home vs. UC Irvine.
