2011: ALL-GREAT WEST CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM... Appeared in all 11 games, starting nine at right tackle... Finished with 40 total tackles (23 solos, 17 assists), including 5.0 tackles for losses of 22 yards... Posted 2.0 sacks for 18 yards and recovered one fumble for the season... Recorded a monster game at South Dakota, tallying 1.5 sacks for 15 yards and adding an assist on another tackle for loss... Had a career high eight solo tackles vs. North Dakota... First collegiate sack was also his first forced fumble: a 11-yard hit on San Jose State's Jordan LaSecia... Tommy Grillo recovered the loose ball, igniting UC Davis' second-half comeback... Also had 4 tackles (1-3-4) in that game, winning team's Defensive Player of the Week... Registered season-best 6 tackles (1-5-6) vs. Sacramento State... Previous high was 5 stops (1-4-5) vs. San Diego.
2009: Played in all 11 games, starting 10 at right tackle... Recorded 12 solo stops and 11 assists for 23 total tackles... Had 3.5 tackles for losses of 8 yards... First career TFL was 3-yarder vs. Fresno State's Michael Harris early in fourth quarter... Notched season-high 5 tackles (all assists) at South Dakota, then matched that mark (2 solos, 3 assists) in season finale at Sacramento State.
JESUIT HS '08: Earned first-team All-Delta River League honors as a junior and senior, including Lineman of the Year in 2007... Added second-team All-Sac-Joaquin Section and Sacramento Bee All-Metro honorable mention... Posted 71 tackles with 2 sacks and 9 QB hurries as a senior... Also starred in wrestling, qualifying for state championships and earning as high as No. 4 state ranking in heavyweight class... Four-year honor roll and National Honor Society member.
PERSONAL: Born in Sacramento, Calif.... Majoring in civil engineering... Parents are Michael & Khanna Benjamin... Cousin, Emmanuel, was a kicker for UC Davis... Two things few people know about him: he enjoys reading classical texts and his nationality is 100 percent Assyrian... Moment in history he wishes he could have witnessed was the Treaty of Westphalia (ended Thirty Years War)... Has worn a special armband during games for four years.
