Mitch Campbell

Position:
Director of Football Operations

Experience:
4th year

After six years of serving UC Davis athletics as a lecturer, student-athlete advisor, eligibility coordinator and department recruiting coordinator, Campbell joined the Aggie football staff as its first-ever director of football operations in 2003.

Campbell, whose role was elevated to assistant athletics director in 2003, takes on an even more crucial role as the program makes its transition to full-fledged Division I-AA status. His duties comprise all administrative aspects of the program, including travel, budget, game management, development, admissions and compliance.

Campbell lettered two years in basketball at UC Davis, earning his bachelor's degree in managerial economics in 1987. He later acquired his secondary teaching credential from Cal State Hayward, a master's degree in physical education at Humboldt State, and his Ph.D A.B.D. from Oregon State in 1997.

Upon returning to his alma mater in 1997, Campbell joined the athletics staff as an academic advisor and, later, as recruiting coordinator. He also taught courses in the exercise biology department in sport and society, drugs and society, healthful living and student-athlete life skills.

Campbell is no stranger to the world of coaching, having served on staffs at Yuba College, Humboldt State and Grays Harbor College. Additionally, he was head girls' basketball coach at Amador Valley HS, guiding the Dons to back-to-back playoff appearances.

Campbell and his wife, Shana, reside in Woodland.
