2009: Saw action in 10 games (missing only Causeway Classic) as reserve DE... Finished with 6 tackles (2 solos, 4 assists) with two TFL assists (vs. South Dakota and North Dakota).

2008: Appeared in 10 games as No. 2 left defensive end (behind Steven Wulff)... Credited with 10 total tackles (2 solos, 8 assists), including an 8-yard sack against Central Arkansas' Nathan Brown... Had season-best 3 stops (1-2-3) vs. Cal Poly... Had lone pass breakup vs. Southern Utah, knocking down a Cody Stone attempt.

2007: On roster but did not play.

2006: Redshirted... Named Scout Offense Player of the Week after opener game at TCU.

DE LA SALLE HS '06: Named All-Bay Valley Athletic League, All-Bay Area and to San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro Team while playing for storied football program... Member of team that finished 11-2... Finished his senior season with 77 total tackles, including 37 solo, averaging 2.7 tackles per game... Also had 6.0 sacks for the year.

PERSONAL: Born in Walnut Creek, Calif... Majoring in organizational studies... Parents are Brian & Pier McConnell... Brian was an All-Big Ten linebacker at Michigan State who later played for Buffalo and Houston of the NFL... Uncle, George Hinshaw, was an assistant coach for the New Orleans Saints.
