UC Davis football claimed its first win of 2016, defeating Southern Oregon, 52-35, on Sept. 10, 2016, at Aggie Stadium.
2016: Saw action in against Southern Utah, Wyoming and Weber State before missing the remainder of the season due to injury… His season-high 208 receiving yards against Southern Oregon on September 10 is second in conference for individual game performance… One of just four conference players to record a 200-yard receiving performance… Finished with 11 receptions for 225 yards… Had a season-long 65 yard reception for a touchdown against Southern Oregon… Averaged 20.5 yards per catch and 75 yards per game.
2015: Played first seven games, starting five of them... Missed last four games with injury... Caught 23 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns... Enjoyed his best game of the year against Northern Arizona, hauling in four passes for 75 yards including a 51-yard TD toss from QB Ben Scott that gave the Aggies a 14-7 first-quarter lead... His other TD in '15 came on a 5-yarder in opener Nevada that capped a 15-play, 77-yard Aggie drive... His season yards were fourth-best on the team while his two scores were T-3rd... Caught at least two passes in every game he played... Had a 13-yard rush in the third quarter against Montana.
2014: ALL-BIG SKY HONORABLE MENTION... Led UC Davis in receiving despite playing just seven games... Made season debut at Portland State... Had three-game streak with at least 100-yd receiving yards, the first Aggie to do since Sean Creadick had school-record tying four in 2010... Posted five-game streak with at least one TD catch... Had 23 plays of at least 10 yards (2nd-best on team) with an Aggie-best six of them leading to TDs... Longest catch was 58-yarder from Ben Scott at Montana... Also caught a 50-yd pass from Scott at Cal Poly... Averaged 16.2 yards per catch.
2013: Played in nine games, earning starts against Southern Utah, Montana and Cal Poly... Only catch was a nine-yarder against Cal Poly.
HUNTINGTON HS '12: Earned All-Sunset League First Team honors in 2010 and 2011 and was named the team Offensive MVP in 2010... Recorded 841 receiving yards as a senior, in addition to 57 catches and 10 touchdown receptions... Added 776 receiving yards in 2010, to go along with 42 catches and nine touchdown receptions... Helped lead Huntington to a 9-3 overall record in 2011 with a 4-1 mark in league play... Advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section in 2011 and 2009... Added cornerback and kick return duties as a senior... Was also a stand-out track athlete while at Huntington, earning Sunset League MVP honors as a senior... Holds the Sunset League record in the 300 meter and was a State Championship Qualifier in that event... Holds a 3.0 GPA.
PERSONAL: Born in Inglewood, Calif.... International relations major... Parents are Efrain Vargas and Mirna Nunez... Has three siblings; Efrain Vargas Jr., Daniel Vargas and Ulises Roldan... Hopes to pursue a career as a firefighter.
