DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis football team took the field on Monday for the first of 15 spring practice sessions that will culminate with its annual spring scrimmage on May 3 at Aggie Stadium.

UC Davis, embarking on its second full season of competition as a member of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision, will practice mainly at Howard Field and adjacent Toomey Field but will hold practices on Saturdays at Aggie stadium.

All practices are open to the public. The first practice featuring full pads will be on Friday. Scrimmages are scheduled for Apr. 19 and Apr. 26 before the spring scrimmage on May 3.

UC Davis is coming of a 5-6 season and its first-ever in Aggie Stadium. The stadium will be site of six home games this season, including five in row from early October through early November. The home slate opens on Sept. 13 against Portland State before moving into a long homestand three weeks later against Northern Colorado (Oct. 4), Southern Utah (Oct. 11), Iona (Oct. 18), North Dakota (Oct. 25) and Sacramento State (Nov. 8).

Five road games, including matchups at San Jose State (Aug. 30), Montana (Sept. 20), Cal Poly (Nov. 15) and San Diego (Nov. 22) help highlight the program's first-ever 12-game schedule.
