DAVIS, Calif. - The one question on every UC Davis football fan’s mind now has an answer.

Junior sociology - organizational studies major Keelan Doss will return for his senior season at UC Davis, as announced on his Twitter feed, and through a video posted to the program’s Twitter account on Friday.

The consensus All-American and finalist for the 2017 Walter Payton Award, presented to the most outstanding offensive player in the nation, enjoyed one of the most successful individual performances in program history last season.

“It just adds credence that you can come here and be the kind of football player you want, get the recognition you want and still have the kind of education and environment that this football program will provide,” said UC Davis head coach Dan Hawkins.”

Doss, the Big Sky Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year, finished the 2017 season ranked No. 1 in the nation among all Division I FBS and FCS players in three categories: receiving yards (1,499), receiving yards per game (136.3) and receptions per game (10.5).

Throughout the last five weeks of the season, Doss held the top marks in each of these categories.

Doss was so dominant this season, the top FBS players in each category trail his numbers by 154 total receiving yards, 16.6 receiving yards and 1.4 receptions per game when the Aggies’ season ended.

With numbers like these, it is no surprise that Doss set new all-time single-season program records in receiving yards, receptions, and 100-yard receiving games (9), in addition to writing new Big Sky era marks in receptions per game, most passes caught in a single game (15), and most receiving yards in a single game when he finished with 208 vs. Eastern Washington.
