BEREA, Ohio – Former UC Davis offensive lineman Christian Schneider signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns, as announced by the organization this week. The four-year starter at right tackle was a staple for the Aggies’ offense and missed just one start throughout his entire career.
Schneider was named to the Big Sky Conference’s All-Academic Team and earned All-Big Sky Honorable Mention following his senior season before the Green Bay Packers invited him to its rookie minicamp.
“I’ve experienced a lot of emotions, but more than anything, I’m excited that I finally signed with a team and made a dream become reality. Getting to Green Bay and then being sent home created some doubt; I realized that it would be a lot harder the second time around, so I’m relieved that I am back,” said Schneider.
After earning his undergraduate degree in managerial economics, and training in the off-season, Schneider “felt proud of myself for not giving up, I am thankful for everyone who stuck with me through the ups and downs.”
“Christian understands the NFL is a business and views it that way. He’s a versatile player that can play any position in the offensive line,” said UC Davis offensive line coach Tim Keane regarding Christian’s potential to compete as a professional. “He is an extremely hard worker that can push through pain and adversity; he will do everything in his power to stay in the NFL as long as he can.”
With Schneider, and his former teammates preparing for their respective upcoming seasons, UC Davis football will host its annual NLI event on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at El Macero Country Club. Head Coach Dan Hawkins will talk about his incoming class of NLI signees, and the 2018 season starting at 6 p.m.
