DAVIS, Calif. - Calling it the best recruiting class the Aggies have ever assembled, UC Davis head coach Bob Biggs announced that 18 outstanding student-athletes have signed NCAA National Letters of Intent while another will join the program in the spring as a mid-year transfer.

The recruiting class is comprised of 10 offensive players and nine defensive. The offensive side consists of three running backs, three lineman, two tight ends, a wide receiver and a quarterback. The defensive class is made up of three linebackers, three lineman and three backs.

The newest Aggies will join a program that returns nine players on offense, six on defense and four specialists. UC Davis is coming off a season in which it finished 6-5 - its 38th winning season in the past 40 years - and captured the Great West Conference Championship for the second time.

Below are quotes from Biggs as well as a list and bios of the recruits.

BIGGS ON THE AGGIES RECRUITING CLASS
"I think we answered a lot of questions, depth-wise, across the board at every position and the quality of the people that we recruited is as strong as we've ever had. How I know that is so much of our evaluations are done in the spring of their junior year. We then independently rate each player as we watch film together as a staff and then take the top players and put them on our list and go from there. In past years, we typically didn't get the top players. This year we got the top players at just about every position. To be a championship-caliber FCS team I think you have to have great depth. To me this is three years in a row we really added great quality and now we have the depth to compete at the top level of the FCS."

BIGGS ON THE EXCITEMENT OF SIGNING DAY
"I think it's critical. I think for the fans who are really great fans of UC Davis football, there's an intimacy of feeling like you're part of the program and feeling like you're part of the process. It's exciting to hear the names and then watch their development and how quickly they're going to play for you. It's all of that. You're just trying to build a following. We've got a great group of young men in the program right now and I get excited when I see the interest level and the excitement."
