DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis football coach Bob Biggs announced on Wednesday that 12 outstanding student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Aggies' program as its heads into its third official season at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level.

The class is comprised of four defensive backs, four defensive linemen, two offensive linemen, a quarterback and a punter/placekicker.

The Aggies, who will welcome back 17 starters next season including nine on the offensive side of the ball, graduated just 10 players after the 2008 season. UC Davis finished 5-7 overall, posting a 2-1 mark and second-place finish in the Great West Football Conference.

"I think we filled the holes that we really wanted to fill," Biggs said. "We felt we needed to get some depth in the defensive and offensive lines, and the defensive backfield, and so we did that. Next year we have 19 seniors graduating so that will give us more opportunities to fill more positions. We just felt we had to concentrate on some positions where we will have some voids in the future."

Biggs was excited about his incoming players and how they will add to the program.

"I think the quality in this class is outstanding," Biggs said. "To be able to address specific needs and with the quality of the players we got, I feel really good about it."

Below is a list and bios of the recruits. Any further signings will be announced as they are received during the signing period.
