DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis football coach Bob Biggs and his staff announced on Wednesday that 11 outstanding student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Aggie program while two more have signed athletic aid agreements as the Aggies ready for their second official season at the NCAA Division I level.

UC Davis is coming off a 5-6 season that finished on a high note when the Aggies won a thrilling come-from-behind 49-46 matchup against the University of San Diego on Nov. 17 that gave them victories in their final two games and three of their final four.

The recruiting class will add to a standout football program that has posted winning seasons in 37 of the past 38 seasons. UC Davis also began playing last year in new Aggie Stadium, one of the top facilities in the region.

Below is a list and bios of the recruits. Any further signings will be announced as they are received during the signing period.

Chris ABRAHAM (WR, 6-4, 185, San Fernando, Calif./James Monroe HS)
Caught 21 passes for 284 yards (13.52 avg.) last season while scoring three touchdowns to help lead James Monroe HS to a 7-4 finish and a second-place finish in the Valley Mission League... Was named All-Valley Mission League first team as well as his team's offensive MVP... Also carried the ball 11 times for 42 yards and passed for 368 yards and four more touchdowns... Lettered three seasons with the football team... Speedy player is also a four-time Valley Mission League champion in hurdle events, claiming 110 high hurdle and 300 intermediate hurdle titles as a sophomore and junior... Volunteer at Santa Rosa Youth Ministry and has been a member of a choir since the age of eight.

Nick APRILE (DB, 6-2, 210, Fresno, Calif./Escalon HS)
Versatile quarterback for Escalon HS that rushed for 975 yards and 10 touchdowns last season while passing for 540 yards and five scores.... Was named the Trans Valley League Offensive Player of the Year, second-team (small schools) all-state by CalHiSports.com and was his team's MVP... Rushed for a season-high 201 yards, had 139 against Patterson and added 133 yards (on just six carries) against Ripon Christian... Included in the latter was an 84-yarder... Also posted runs of 62 and 57 yards during the season... Escalon finished 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the Trans Valley League... Passed for 879 yards and rushed for 427 during limited action as a junior... Escalon finished 10-2 during his senior season as well.... Has also earned letters in basketball and baseball, batting .302 with 14 stolen bases and 20 RBI's last season... Honorable mention all-league in basketball as a junior... ASB Ralley Commissioner and a scholar-athlete for six semesters... Comes from a family with four UC Davis graduates.

Andrew BENJAMIN (DL, 6-0, 250, Orangevale, Calif./Jesuit HS)
A three-year letterwinner for Jesuit HS where he earned All-Delta River League first-team honors as a junior and senior... Posted 71 tackles, two sacks and nine quarterback hurries as a senior as Jesuit finished with an 8-3 record and a 4-1 league mark... Was selected the Delta River League's Lineman of the Year, second-team all-section and was one of his team's MVP's for the Holy Bowl... Also named Sacramento Bee All-Metro honorable mention and Jesuit's Outstanding Lineman last season... Finished with 80 tackles, two sacks and eight TFL's as a junior... Received team' Iron Man Award.... Outstanding wrestler who was 42-4 last season, won a league title and qualified for the state championships... Is currently 17-1 and ranked fifth in the state... National Honor Society for two years...

Aaron COLLDEWEIH (OL, 6-6, 260, Folsom, Calif./Folsom HS)
Outstanding lineman for Folsom HS who was selected All-Delta River League first team as a senior and was honorable mention as a junior... Helped Folsom finish 6-5 in 2007 and 6-4 in 2006... Has also lettered twice in basketball and twice in volleyball, earning All-League Sportsmanship Award during his junior season... Basketball team finished 21-9 last year... All-American scholar in 2006 with a 3.8 GPA... Holds dual citizenship in Switzerland and United States.

Chad DAVIS (LB, 6-1, 200, Salinas, Calif./Palma HS)
Named All-Tri-County Athletic League first team, the TVAL's Most Valuable Defensive Player and was Monterey County's Defensive Player of the Year by the Monterey Herald... Had 110 tackles last season for Palma while also carrying the ball 75 times for 455 yards and four touchdowns... Enjoyed a junior season that was just as prolific, finishing with 144 total tackles while rushing 90 times for 374 yards and nine touchdowns.... Selected to the all-state underclass team after his junior campaign, was the TVAL's Co-Junior of the year and was named all-league and all-county... Palma HS amassed a 26-7 record during his three varsity seasons, earning section playoff berths each season... Also lettered in track and field where he was named his team's top thrower... Three-year member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the Honor Roll.

Bobby ERSKINE (LB, 6-2, 240, Coronado, Calif./Choate Rosemary Hall/St. Augustine HS `07)**
Graduated from St. Augustine's in 2007 and spent this fall as a postgraduate at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn.... Finished with 136 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a safety, fumble recovery and caused fumble during his senior season.... His tackle total was 41 more than his nearest teammate... Was named All-Eastern League first team and All-CIF San Diego Section first-team ... Added second-team all-state honors... Also selected his team's Defensive Player of the Year as a senior... Posted 95 tackles, 3.5 sacks, five fumble recovers and caused three fumbles during a junior campaign in which he was named second-team all-league... Had a sack in the Alex Spanos Classic last summer... St. Augustine's was 11-3 in 2006 and 10-4 in 2005... Named to All-CIF Academic Team and was a team captain... Eagle Scout and sports commissioner for ASB... Honored as scholar-leader-athlete by the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame... Will enroll at UC Davis for the spring quarter.

Joseph GRAY (WR, 6-0, 185, Berkeley, Calif./McClymonds HS/Berkeley HS)
Played two seasons at McClymond HS before transferring to Berkeley HS as a senior... Was not eligible to play as a senior due to transfer rules... Made transfer for academic reasons... Enjoyed standout prep career nonetheless, finishing with 30 catches and 15 touchdowns in 2006 while also earning all-city honors... Had 20 catches and five touchdowns as a sophomore... Named to 2007 preseason NorCal Top 50 list (was No. 21) and was a preseason All-Metro selection by the San Francisco Chronicle... McClymonds finished 11-1 in 2005 and 9-2-1 in 2006, capturing Silver Bowl title each year... Named last week to Contra Costa Times Top 20 Cream of the Crop... Grand Winner of All-Start Talent Show in 2005 and was June Jordan Poetry Contest Finalist that same year... Volunteer church organist... Musician who plays piano, drums and saxophone... His brother, David, was a wide receiver at Cal.

Austin HEYWORTH (QB, 6-4, 210, Monrovia, Calif./Saint Francis HS)
Named his team's offensive Most Valuable Player after throwing for 770 yards and five touchdowns in 2007, while only playing seven games... Threw for 213 yards and two scores against Crescenta Valley on Sept. 14 and 168 yards and a touchdown against Arcadia in season-opener... Caught 18 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown as a junior while also recording 16 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery... Was named to All-Area first team and was a second-team All-Mission League selection as a junior... Three-year varsity letterwinner in baseball as well... 4.22 GPA... Academic Hall of Fame... Scholar-Athlete Award each year... Volunteer with several charitable organizations.

Hunter PAHL (LB, 6-0, 205, Loomis, Calif./Del Oro HS)
Named the Sacramento Bee All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year after finishing with 78 tackles, including 47 solo stops... Also had seven sacks... Also rushed for 757 yards and 21 touchdowns, averaging 4.79 yards a carry... Had 159 yards against Christian Brothers on Sept. 28 and 135 yards against Cardinal Newman on Sept. 15... Had five touchdowns against Cardinal Newman... Posted back-to-back games with double-digit tackles against Nevada Union (11) and Christian Brothers (12)... Del Oro finished 11-2 and tied for a league championship... Two-time Defensive Player of the Year for the Sierra Foothill League as well as his team... Had 14 touchdowns as a junior and had 80 total tackles, including 57 solo... Scholar-Athlete by the National Football Foundation.... Member of the Future Farmers of America.

Nolan SHELDON (TE, 6-3, 220, Yorba Linda, Calif./El Dorado HS)
Helped lead El Dorado HS (Placentia, Calif.) to three straight Century League titles and back-to-back Southern Section championships in 2006 and 2007... Garnered first-team all-section and all-league honors as a senior, hauling in 19 receptions for 430 yards and five touchdowns... Added 37 tackles and an interception on defense... Team went 13-1 in each of its CIF-SS title seasons... Earned Scholar-Athlete merit from Orange County chapter of National Football Foundation.

Anthony SOTO (WR, 5-10, 175, Fresno, Calif./San Joaquin Memorial HS)
Voted team MVP in both football and basketball at San Joaquin Memorial HS in Fresno, Calif.... Earned All-North Yosemite League honors for three straight years as a wide receiver, adding a NYL Offensive Player of the Year nod in his senior season... Caught 47 passes for 770 yards and seven touchdowns in 2007... Had 43 receptions for 626 yards and three TDs as a junior, 32-for-473 with four TDs as a sophomore... Currently in his second year as basketball team captain... Captured first-team All-NYL distinction in 2006-07, averaging 12.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game... National Honor Society member, earning academic awards for algebra II and social science... Volunteers his time as a youth coach for Pee Wee football and youth basketball camps.

Raymond WILBURN (OL, 6-2, 275, San Bernadino, Calif./Cajon HS)
Lettered in football and track at Cajon HS in San Bernardino, Calif.... Twice earned All-Southern Section accolades... Also a three-time All-San Andreas League and two-time All-San Bernardino County honoree... Surrendered just one quarterback sack in his three seasons... Helped Cowboys advanced to CIF-SS postseason every year... Added All-SAL honors in track as a shot putter, advancing to section finals... Talented as a musician, playing drums, piano and guitar.

Steven WULFF (DE, 6-3, 240, Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS `05/Boise State/Fullerton JC)**
Recorded 63 tackles and 5.5 sacks at Fullerton JC last season and had 50 tackles, three sacks and an interception in 2006 after transferring from Boise State... Was named All-Century League and was an Orange County All-Star in 2004 at El Dorado HS after posting 30 catches for 730 yards and 12 total tackles... Had 20 receptions for 550 yards as a junior... An accomplished basketball player who averaged 15.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg as a senior and was named All-Century League for the third consecutive year... Also lettered in volleyball... Scholar-Athlete... Distinguished Student-Award... Will enroll at UC Davis for the spring quarter.
