DAVIS, Calif. - The Collegiate Sports Video Association Executive Board selected Timothy Ornelas as its Mike Dougherty NFL Scholarship recipient, as announced on Tuesday. The scholarship will provide financial assistance for attending next month's CSVA conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
Entering his fifth season as UC Davis Athletics' director of video services, Ornelas handles all aspects of its video department, which includes filming and editing of practice and game footage, as well as opponent scouting for coaches and players.
He and his student staff are responsible for the organization and maintenance of the XOS Thunder HD video database, used by student-athletes and coaches to prepare for game day. In addition to his football duties, Ornelas and his staff produce live streams and coaches' video for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, gymnastics, lacrosse, men's and women's water polo, and baseball.
Ornelas earned his bachelor's degree in art history, with a minor in mathematics, from local rival Sacramento State.
