DAVIS, Calif. - Standout UC Davis offensive lineman Sean Davies, selected as an Associated Press All-American after his senior season last fall, added another honor on Thursday when he was named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society for outstanding academic achievement.
Davies was one of more than 700 football players from better than 250 institutions at all levels of college football who received the prestigious recognition. Honorees had to be seniors in their final season of eligibility who maintained at least a 3.20 GPA throughout their undergraduate careers.
Davies, who received All-Big Sky Conference first-team honors last season, double-majored in political science and history. He was repeatedly honored for academic achievement by the Great West Conference before receiving similar all-academic recognition from the Big Sky this year.
He was also recipient of the Thomas Y. Cooper Memorial Football Scholarship in the 2012, the George Belenis Memorial Football Scholarship in 2011 and was a repeat honoree on his college's Dean's List.
Besides earning A.P. All-America status, Davies was also named an All-American by The Sports Network and was a team captain. He started all 43 games he played during his outstanding Aggie career.
