DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis will have televised football games in consecutive weeks at Portland State and home against Montana State on ROOT SPORTS this upcoming season, it was announced by the Big Sky Conference and DIRECTV Sports Networks on Tuesday morning.
The matchups are the first for the Aggies on the regional network since the 2012 season. This year's game at Portland State is scheduled for Oct. 4 while the showdown with the Bobcats on Oct. 11 marks the second straight time that Montana State's visit to Aggie Stadium has been the featured ROOT SPORTS game. Montana State posted an exciting 48-41 win in the previous televised game two seasons ago.
Game times for this year's ROOT SPORTS games have not been announced.
ROOT SPORTS will televise 11 Big Sky games during the upcoming season beginning with Eastern Washington's visit to Montana State on Sept. 20. The Aggies are one of six conference teams to have more than one appearance.
"Through the first two seasons of our partnership with DIRECTV Sports Networks, we've heard extremely positive feedback from our fans and alumni in regards to the first-class production, and overall excitement surrounding our ROOT SPORTS games,'' said Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. "We're excited for this year's schedule of games on ROOT SPORTS.''
UC Davis will open the 2014 season at Stanford on Aug. 30 and then return to face Ft. Lewis (Colo.) on Sept. 7 to open a five-game home schedule at Aggie Stadium. The Aggies were 5-7 last season while winning five of their last eight games to go 5-3 in the Big Sky, tying for fourth place.
