CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Taylor Sloat, selected All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention last season, has been placed on the watch list for the 2013 College Football Performance Football Championship Subdivision Tight End Award, it's been announced.
The CFPA FCS tight ends preliminary watch list recognizes 32 returning players.
Sloat, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior from Fall River Mills, Calif., finished second on the Aggies last year with 30 receptions for 428 yards. He scored a pair of touchdowns, the first coming in the opener against Azusa Pacific and the other in UC Davis' 34-27 victory over Sacramento State in the Causeway Classic. Sloat's seven catches for 109 yards against the Hornets were both career-highs.
The CFPA makes its players selections on objective data "to the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams". Harvard quarterback Colton Chapple was named the CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year last season.
