PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - UC Davis fullback Dalton Turay has been named to the 2014 Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America third team, it was announced on Tuesday morning, adding to a career that saw him earn All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention accolades the last two seasons.
Turay, a 5-foot-10, 220-pound senior from Pleasanton, Calif., carried the ball just three times for 12 yardS in 2013 but has been an effective blocker in the backfield for the Aggies throughout his career. Turay, who was named a preseason All-Big Sky selection in 2013, has also been a reliable receiver, catching 13 passes for 159 yards last year and collecting 34 receptions in his career. He had three receptions for 54 yards last season, including a long gain of 40 yards, while catching an eight-yard TD pass from Randy Wright in the fourth quarter of the Aggies' 23-13 win over Idaho State last September.
He had three touchdowns in the second quarter against Weber State in 2012 helping UC Davis post its first-ever Big Sky win, 37-13.
Thirteen Big Sky players were named to the the Sports Network Preseason All-America teams, including Northern ArizonaArizona's Nick Butler who was named the fullback on the second team.
The Aggies will open up preseason practices for the 2014 season on Aug. 4 in preparation of the season opener at Stanford on Aug. 30. They'll have their home-opener on Sept. 7 against Fort Lewis (Colo.).
