CHARLESTON, S.C. — Kick returner/cornerback Shamawn Wright became the fourth UC Davis football player honored by the CFPA when the organization named the junior to its Kickoff Returner Watch List.
Wright, who competed at Antioch High School before arriving to UC Davis, is one of 40 NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision players who comprise this year’s list.
Last season, Wright returned 16 kicks for a combined 413 yards; his 25.8 yards per return average helped UC Davis finish No. 13 in the FCS in kickoff return average and the Antioch, Calif., native earn preseason accolades from the CFPA.
Wright joins teammate Colby Wadman who was recognized by the CFPA earlier this month when he earned a spot on the Punter Award Watch List.
UC Davis, picked seventh by the media and ninth by the media in the Big Sky preseason polls, will begin practice for the upcoming campaign on Aug. 4.
The Aggies won five of their final eight games in 2013, finishing 5-7 overall and in a tie for fourth in the Big Sky at 5-3.
Season tickets are currently available for the five-game UC Davis home football season through the UC Davis Ticket Office at (530) 752-AGS1 or by clicking here.
