DAVIS, Calif. - Fans will get the opportunity to welcome the 2012-13 UC Davis athletics year with the 2nd Annual "Meet the Aggies" fan-fest event, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, and held in conjunction with the annual Blue-Gold Football Scrimmage that begins an hour later at Aggie Stadium.
The first 500 fans will receive a free hot dog, compliments of Nugget Markets. "Meet the Aggies" gives fans a chance to meet student-athletes and coaches from many UC Davis teams and receive player autographs and take photos on the field after the scrimmage. Interactive events, such as the opportunity to have photos taken while wearing Aggie football gear, will also take place.
Schedules and other information will be available while tickets for the upcoming football season can also be purchased. Football season tickets are also still on sale and fans can view seat locations prior to purchasing.
The Jr. Aggie Club, open to youths ages 5-13, will be taking signups at the scrimmage. Members receive free admission to all regular-season home games for the 2012-13 season. Discounted old Aggie uniforms, as well as new merchandise, will be available at The Aggie Pride Outlet.
The Blue-Gold Scrimmage, UC Davis' final tuneup prior to its home and season opener against Azusa Pacific on Aug. 30, begins at 7 p.m.
"Meet the Aggies" fan-fest is designed to introduce families and youths from Yolo, Solano and Sacramento counties to UC Davis Athletics and provide a means to bond families togethers and build a sense of community and pride.
