DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis football fans will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional tailgating in areas directly adjacent to Aggie Stadium while also enjoying fun pregame promotions during the upcoming 2013 home season.
Beginning this fall, designated tailgating areas will be located in Lot 56, just south of the Aggie Stadium scoreboard, and also the North Field near the Bob Foster Team Center on the opposite end of the facility. Lot 56 provides guaranteed parking for qualifying TeamAggie members with remaining spaces available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis for $25.
Season passes to park in the North Field are sold out but the area will also serve as the location of many exciting promotions before each game. Tailgating policies, which permit the use of alcohol, will apply to the two designated areas.
Lot 30, across the street from the northwest corner of the stadium, has previously been a designated tailgating area but will revert to regular parking for 2013. As a result, the price to park in Lot 30 has been reduced nearly 50 percent to $8, the regular parking rate for gameday lots. Alcohol use will no longer be allowed in Lot 30.
Fans in both designated tailgating areas will be able to enjoy an expanded promotional schedule before each of the six home games. Activities begin three hours before kickoff and include performances by the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh!, Aggie Spirit Squad and the official mascot, Gunrock, among other activities.
New this season with first-year head coach Ron Gould is a "Victory March" through the North Field two hours before game time, allowing Aggie fans to cheer on the UC Davis football team as it makes its way to the Bob Foster Team Center to begin preparations for the game.
Several promotions are scheduled for this season, including:
"Back to School Night" and a Food Truck Tailgate highlight the home opener against Northern Arizona on on Sept. 14.
"Grillin' on the Gridiron" - featuring regional BBQ grill masters - will be spotlighted on Sept. 21 when the Aggies host Portland State.
