DAVIS, Calif. - Sophomore economics major Max O'Rourke is one of 41 student-athletes in the nation vying for the Fred Mitchell Award, a national award presented annually to the nation's top kicker. Over 750 players from the FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA levels were eligible for this award until the final list of 41 candidates was revealed.

The Rocklin native is one of eight FCS kickers, and two that represent schools from California, in the running for this award, which will be announced in mid-December. Of the 41 selections, O'Rourke is also one of 11 sophomores that comprise this watch list.

Entering Saturday's 4 p.m. home finale vs. Southern Utah, O'Rourke has eight field goals and 38 successful extra-point attempts to his credit in his first season at UC Davis, the fourth-most international public university in the United States.

He also leads all Aggies in scoring with 62 points, 20 more than wide receivers Wesley Preece and Keelan Doss, who are tied for second with 42 apiece.

Before Saturday's game, UC Davis will honor its graduating seniors during a pregame ceremony. At halftime the program will honor Aggie legend Ken O'Brien and unveil his name as the inaugural member of the Aggie Pride Wall.
