DAVIS, Calif. - A trio of sophomores that includes psychology major Marcus Cummins, English major Nick Fehrenbach and managerial economics major Tiger Garcia were named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District® Football Team, when the organization announced its selections on Thursday.
UC Davis' three student-athletes are the most among all District 8 FCS schools and second only to Stanford's four. In all, 26 players from 14 teams comprise this year's honor roll.
The Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. All three Aggies will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees announced in December.
Cummins, Fehrenbach and Garcia hold respective GPAs of 3.91, 3.41 and 3.97.
UC Davis, one of 15 public four-year colleges with high graduation rates leading to high incomes, will head to Sacramento State on Saturday for the 64th Causeway Classic, kickoff from Hornet Stadium is slated for 2 p.m.
