AUSTIN, Texas - Sophomore psychology major Marcus Cummins earned Academic All-America accolades on Thursday when the College Sports Information Directors of America released their Division I selections. He was one of six second-year student athletes at the FBS and FCS levels to earn All-America honors from the national organization.
In the classroom, Cummins is one of numerous reasons why the Aggies posted the highest Graduation Success Rate among all Big Sky schools since they joined the conference. On the field, the Clovis, Calif. native recorded 13 receptions throughout the season and averaged 10.1 yards per catch, adding another facet to the league’s No. 1-ranked offense.
By providing additional depth at this position, the Aggies won as many games against Division I competition as the previous three years combined, with a schedule that included more nationally ranked teams (or teams receiving votes) during the program’s Big Sky era.
Cummins is one of 33 members of the members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Football Team that holds 3.90 GPA or higher.
