DAVIS, Calif. - STATS FCS is the latest organization to select junior organizational studies major Keelan Doss as an All-American when the organization announced its selections on Tuesday. Combined with All-America picks also released by College Sports Madness (a subsidiary of USA Today Sports), Doss is now the most decorated Aggie All-American in program history.
Earlier this month, the Associated Press and the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association named the Alameda, Calif., native to their respective list of All-America award recipients.
STATS FCS is the same organization hosting the FCS Awards Banquet, taking place in Frisco, Texas, the night before the FCS National Championship game. It is this event that Doss, a top-three finalist for the Walter Payton Award, and college football fans nationwide will learn who a panel of 151 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries selected as the FCS’ most outstanding offensive player of the season.
Outstanding is the perfect word to describe Doss’ junior year, one that saw him finish the Aggies’ season as the top player at the FBS AND FCS levels in receiving yards (1,499), receptions per game (10.5) and receiving yards per game (136.3).
In addition to setting new all-time single-season program records in receiving yards, 100-yard receiving games (9) and pass receptions, Doss set new Big Sky-era program records when a packed Aggie Stadium watched him record 15 catches for 208 yards when UC Davis, the fourth-most international public university in the United States, hosted Eastern Washington.
That record-setting game is one of a slew of highlights that took place for the Aggies throughout the first year of the Dan Hawkins era. Football fans can witness another exciting season of UC Davis football by renewing, or purchasing new season tickets now. To secure the best seats possible for all five 2018 home games, and a ticket for the team’s Sept. 15 road game at Stanford which is included with every season seat purchased, visit the Athletics Ticket Office at Aggie Stadium from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, or call (530) 752-AGS1 (2471).
