Hansen Fires 4-under 68 During Second Rd. in Hawaii

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - Matt Hansen fired a 4-under 68 during Friday's second round of the Amer Ari Invitational at Waikoloa Kings' Course, vaulting him 47 places in the individual standings while pacing the UC Davis men's golf team in the showcase tournament.
Hansen had the Aggies' best score on Friday which moved him from a tie for 93rd at the start of the day to a tie for 46th heading into Saturday's final round. He is currently 2-under 142.
The Aggies had a one-shot improvement from their opening-round 290, shooting 289 in the second. They're in 18th place at 3-over 579.
Ben Corfee is also in the red for the Aggies after his 73 and is tied for 56th at 1 under. Josh Granger also had a 73 and is tied for 83rd at 2 over. Luke Vivolo is 5 over after his round of 76 while Mike Brockington shot 75 and is 7 over.
The tournament is one of the toughest in collegiate golf with two top-10 teams and 10 ranked in the top 50. Third-ranked Oklahoma State is 28 under and leads unranked Oregon by two shots. Washington, ranked 19th, is 24 under while No. 27 Auburn and No. 24 USC are tied for fourth five shots out of the lead.
Stanford's Cameron Wilson is 12 under and holds a one-stroke leader over three players, all of them from the Pac-12 Conference.
Hansen was the spark for UC Davis on Friday, opening his day with birdies on his first two holes and posting six overall. He played the back nine of Waikoloa Kings' Course four shots under par, posting four birdies between the 10th and 14 holes. Hansen capped his round with birdies on his last two holes.
Corfee, who had a 70 on Thursday, countered a pair of double-bogeys with five birdies. Granger matched Corfee's 73 with one of his own, carding a trio of birdies.
Brockington's 75 featured two birdies, including one on the par-5 second hole, while Vivolo's 76 was helped by three birdies.
UC Davis will begin the final round at 9:30 a.m. (PST) on Saturday. They'l play with San Jose State, Cal State Monterey Bay and Osaka Gakuin University of Japan.
