NEWPORT COAST, Calif. - Josh Granger and Andrew Haggen each shot 73s and Daniel Covrig improved on his second round score by three strokes as the UC Davis men's golf team finished 10th overall after the final round Tuesday at the Battle at the Beach at the Pelican Hill Golf Course.

Tyler Raber led the Aggies, tying for 23rd at six over while Haggen finished tied for 35th at nine over. Austin Graham carded a 76 during his final round to tie for 45th overall at 11-over, Granger was 13-over and tied for 58th and Matt Seramin tied for 66th at 17-over. Covrig carded a 77 and finished in 73rd overall.

The Aggies, ranked 48th nationally by Golfstat, posted a 54-hole score of 52-over 1,102, nine shots back of No. 36 Oregon State and seven shots ahead of fellow Big West Conference opponent Long Beach State. UCLA edged out San Diego for the team title as the Bruins took a 3-shot victory over the Toreros, who shot nine over in the final round.

Raber posted the team's lowest scores after the first and second rounds, which included a season-low 68 on Sunday. His final round score of 75 was highlighted by birdies on the par-4 fifth and the par-4 11th as well as 11 par holes.

Haggen's 73 was a two-shot improvement on his second round score as he carded a birdie on the par-4 13th and parred seven of eight holes on his back nine. Granger shot even on every hole on his back nine to finish at 3-over 73 for the round, a three-stroke improvement on his second round score, while Graham's final round also featured 12 pars. Covrig's final round included three birdies and Seramin shot even on nine holes.

San Diego's Kenneth McCready took medalist honors in the 13-team tournament, shooting 71 Tuesday to finish at 6-under 203.

UC Davis returns to action Feb. 28-Mar. 1 at the USC Collegiate Invitational.
